HomeMy WebLinkAboutPEC120018 applicant's parking plan Planning and Environmental Commission Section 12-10 Off Street Parking and Loading The Town of Vail Municipal code does not include specific criteria for parking at a Fire Station. The parking requirement is to be determined by the PEC. The existing configuration provides ten parking spaces in front of the station (southeast side)for duty personnel and one ADA parking space. Two additional spaces are provided on the north side for administration and guests parking. Five spaces are on the west side intended for use by the resident firefighters, for a total of 18 spaces. This plan successfully accommodated the needs for four on-duty personnel, three administrative personnel and for six residents (13 total), plus guests. The proposed plan provides spaces for a four person "on-duty° crew in the front of the station (southeast sides), at least one ADA space on the north side, and five head-in parking spaces on the west side. The remaining six spaces on the southeast will be available for use during shift change (at 7 AM every two days), and for Fire Department related guests and staff. With the anticipated use of the west half of the upstairs of the station for EHU's (one two bedroom unit and one studio unit),the five spaces on the west side should be sufficient allowing for one vehicle per bed with two spaces for"guests." Using the parking formula for General Use outside of CC I and II at one space for each 250 square feet net, the EHU's would be required five spaces (1320 gross sq. ft. minus stairs, common element, etc.). The possible temporary use of the second floor of the west side of the fire station for Town of Vail office space would likewise follow the one space per 250 sq. ft. net requirement for a total of five space or less depending on the configuration of the second floor.
