Aa requeeted, I was on eite on September 22, 1989, for an
open hole inspection. Water had infiltrated the footing subeoile
near the goutheagt corner and weet center of the excavation- The
water had softened the foundat ion gubsoils- Two obvioua posoible aource€r of the water are Gore Creek and from the
neighbor's irrigation-
I reconmended that you 1>lace and compact clean rock (3-i-nch)
in the footing exeavation untll the subsoile are stable. A
temporary trench should be constructed to prevent additional
water from infiltratLng-
To eliminate the infiltration of the water it would be
necessary to construct an interceptor trench drain between the gtructure and the aouree of water. At the minimum a perimeter
drain as recommended in the soils report ehould be properly
inatalled- It may be neeesgary to constnuct a dry well and
inotal-1 a sump pump - There does not al;pear to be enough
difference in elevation to prowide a poeitiwe drainage from the
structure.
I revieited the gite on September 25, 1989- The stability of the foundatlon soils had improved from the plaeement and
compaction of on aite gravel and cobbleg- The elevation of the
footing excavation wasr lower than planned from "mucking out" the
