Dear Pat:
As you askcd, I have prepared the enclosed plan and elevation
enclosure for the Goldens' home on LoI 24 at Grand Traverse.
The enclosure is designed with a 5' high "California-style(cftlirf iD"r.e, using wooden
4x4 posts and double 2x4 top and bottom rails, both painteiltd iiiitch the building trim.
The chainlink will be standard 11-gauge with a brown vinyl coating so that it will bc
minimally visible against the building. Each scction of chainlink is to be secured with a
tension bar nailed or screwed to the vertical posts and with 1-3l4" wood staples in the top
and bottom ra i ls.
Because the materials are inconspicuous and because the grade drops six feet or more from
Lionsridge Loop to the northwest wall of the house, the enclosure should be quite well
concealed from the road and yet easily accessible from the garage, as the owners have
"speci fi ed.
I hope this will be suf ficient for Design Review Board approval.

Dear Pat,
As requested, I visited Lot- 24, Block 1 of the Dauphinais Moseley SuMivision today, to observe the foundation excavation.The purpose of this observation was to compare the subsoil conditions encountered in the foundation excavation with the subsoil conditions anticipated in the soils report prepared by this office as Project No. 9OO14c.
The foundation excavation was virtually complete at the tine of the observation. The excavatlon was, however, bottoned in the fill placed on the site by Rocky Mountain Contractors in 1989 and 1990. Three additional test pits were extended below the proposed botton of footer and revealed six to aeven feet of uncontrolled fill containing lrood and debris as we anticipated in our previous report. A copy of Test Pit Log No. 1 from the investigation is enclosed for your reference.
We reconmend that this fitl be completely removed fron beneath the structure, and t-hat either the forrnitati-cn be eytended dosrn to the undisturbed subsoils or you nay replace the uncontrolled fill with clean structural backfill conpacted to a ninimum of 1OO* of its ASTM D698 Standard Proctor Density.
The fill envelope should include at a minimum a trapezoidal soif envelope which is two feet uider than the footing (1 foot on either side) and widen at a 45 degree angle on both sides down to the bearing soil. This fill should extend down to suitable undisturbed native soils.

1) The dirt stockpiled on Lot 24, Dauphinais Moseley Subdivision, Filing # 1,
was excavated from the Waeckerle Residence at 7773 Lionsridge Loop, Building
Permit # 4902. This material will be used to backfill the Waeckerle foundation
within three weeks of this date.
2) Dauphlnais-Moseley construction, rnc. has made application for a building
pernit on Lot 24, Dauphinais Moseley Subdivision, Filing # 1, and has submitted
a topographic survey with that application. The topography of Lot 24, Dauphinais
Moseley Subdivision, Filing # 1, will not be al-tered.
