During the ccnversation following the presentation of the
tape, I gave certa'in examples in answer to questions; specifically
using the Red Lion Inn. Due to the seeming confusion and obvjous
misinformation arising from my use of said example, please let
me clarify a few points,
The management of the Red Lion Inn has been more than cooperative
with the fire department in meeting all current fire codes and in their willingness to upgrade the entire facility as needed.
Although faced with jnconsistencies in design, none of these
areas are a present fire hazard, and all new addition wonk will be built vtith total fire and life safety protect'ion jn mind.
I am sorry for the misunderstanding caused by what I now realize to be a poor example amid discuss'ion.

Ron Todd made the l{otion to approve Canadas of Vail request
for Conditional Use Permit to alfow a real estate office on the
first floor in a commercial core 2 Zone. Roger Tilkemeier
seconded the }4otion and the Commission voted unanimous approval.
The sixth item on the agenda, Alder - Request for Gross
Residential Floor Area variance to allow addition to Bighorn Terrace
Diana Toughill explained to the commission that the staff
recommendation to oppoie the request is based on technicalities
as referred to in the Department of Community Development memorandum'
Mr. Alder was present to represent his request and explained
the proposed addition to the Commission.
After further discussion, Ron Todd made the Motion to apProve
the Alder request for Gross Residential Floor Area variance
to allow an iadition to a Bighorn Terrace unit, in the amount
of 66 sq. ft. Roger Titkemeler seconded the ltlotion, and the Commission
voted 5 in favor of approval , Sandy Mi11s oPposed'
Ron Todd then made the Motion to approve the Alder request
for a setback variance of 8 feet for Lot 23, Bighorn Terrace
Subdivision. Roger Tilkemeier seconded the Motion, the Commission
voted 5 in favor of approval , Sandy Mills opposed'
1.,k. Tilkemeier made his own presentation to the Commission- Diana
Toughill explained about a teleqrarn received from a neighbor
;;kilg Lne 'commission to table, but she feels that the opposition
is foi all the wrong reasons. lvlrs. Huxrnan is objecting because

because of this reguest-
Mr. Tilkemeier advised the commission that the buyers have seen
tris piins and have no problem with what he is proposing'
Mr. Tilkemeier presented his plans to the commission and
explained the expansion which will make what was used initially for
a irountain vacation home into an adequate fu1l-time residence. He
stated that the setback will prevent having to remove any of the
existing trees -
scott Hopman questioned the impact on the-structuref whether
it wouia be significant? Mr. Tilkelneier doesn't feel there will
