If this permit requires a Town of Vail Fire Department Approval ,
Engineer''s (Pub1 ic Works) review and approval , a Planning Department
review or Health Department review, and a review by the Building
Department, the estimated time for a total review may take as long
as three weeks.
Al'l commercial (large or sma'l'l) and all mu1ti-family permits will
have to follow the above mentioned maximum requirements. Resident'ial
and sma'l 1 projects should take a'l esser amount of time. However, if
residential or smaller projects impact the various above mentioned
departments with regard to necessary review, these projects may
also take the three week period.
Every attempt will be made by this department to expedite this
permit as soon as possib'l e.

In summary, Ordinance No. 6 states that it is unlawful for any person to litter, track or deposit any soil , rock, sand, debris or material , including trash durnpsters, portable toilets and
workmen vehicles upon any street, sidewalk, alley or pubtic place or any portion tbereof. The right-of-way on all Town of Vail streets and roads is approxirnately 5 ft. off pavernent.This ordinance wil-l be strictly enforced by the Town of VaiI Public Works Department. Persons found violating this ordinance vill be given a 24 hour written notice to rernove said naterial.fn the event the person so notified does not comply with the notice within the 24 hour time specified, the Public Works
Departrnent will remove said material at the expense of person notified. The provisions of this ordinance shall not be applicable to construction, naintenance or repair projects of any street or alley or any utilities in the right-a-way.
To review Ordinance No. 6 in full, please stop by the Town of Vail Building Department to obtain a copy. Thank you for your cooperation on this matter.

I. DESCRIPTION OF THE REQUEST
The applicant, Celia Teuscher, is proposing to enclose an existing exterior deck adjacent to
her condominium in the Lionshead Center building. This building has commercial area on the
first lloor and dwelling units on the second and third floors. On the north side of the structure'
facing the Lionshead-Mall, are eight dwelling units. Originally, each unit had an exterior deck.
At this time, half of trem have been enclosed. The applicant is proposing to enclose her deck
to match the other four. The deck area is 91 sq. ft.

The Commercial Core ll District is intended to provide sites for a mixture of multiple
dwellings, lodges, and commercial establishments in a clustered, unified development.
Commdrcial Core ll District in accordance with the Vail Uonshead Urban Design Guide
plan and Design Considerations is intended to ensure adequate light, air, open space
and other amenities appropriate to the permitted tlDes of buildings and uses and to
maintain the desirable qualities ol the district by establishing appropriate site
development standards.
Stal believes this proposal is consistent with the Purpose section for this zone district. The
use is specifically provided for in the purpose section. As this request is an expansion lo an
existing dwelling unit, statf has determined that the proposal meets all the development
standards of the zone districl, as shown in the section above.
The subarea concepts which are in the vicinity of the Lionshead Center Building are:
Concept 11: "Commercial expansion (one story) to increase pedestrian emphasis, scale of
mall, and to improve shade-zone facades and accessibility"
Concept 12: "Opportunity exists for expansion of buibings, arcades, awnings' etc" to
improve scale, shelter, appearance of commercial facades."
These two subarea concepts are the only ones located in the vicinity ol the Lionshead Cenler
Mall. staff believes they are directed more toward commercial expansions and proposals for
the first floor, adjacent to the pedestrian area. Staff believes that since this proposal is to_

enclose an existing deck with delined walls and a defined roof, that the change to the building
will not affect, positively or negatively, subarea concepts 11 and 12.

The massing of the Lionshead Center Building will not change as a result of this
project. Thd roof form and the wall locations will not be atfected, and as a result, the
height and massing of the building will remain the same.

IX.A If this application requires a separate review by any

Department to have significant design, land use or
other issues which may have a significant impact on the

money necessary to pay him or her and this amount shal-l-

The right-of-way on all Town of Vail streets and roads is approxinately 5 ft. off pavernent.This ordinance will be strictly enforced by the Town of VaiI Pubric works Department. Persons found viorating this ordinance wirl be given a 24 hour written notice to rernove-said rnaterial .fn the event the person so notified does not eomply with the notice within the 24 hour tirne specified, the puLtlc Works Department wil-I remove said material at the expense of person notified. The provisions of this ordinance snlft not be applicable to construction, maintenance or repair projects of any street or alley or any utilities in the right-a-way.

In summary, Ordinance No. 6 states that it is unlawful for any
person to litter, track or deposit any soil, rock, sand, debris
or naterial, including trash dumpsters, portable toilets and
workrnen vehicles upon any st,reet, sidewalk, alley or public
place or any portion thereof. The right-of-way on all Town of Vail streets and roads is approxinately 5 ft. off pavement.
This ordinance will be strictly enforced by the Town of VaiI
Pub1ic Works Department. Persons found violating this ordinance will be given a 24 hour written notice to rernove said naterial .
fn the event the person so notified does not cornply with the notice within the 24 hour tine specified, the Public Works
Department wiII remove said rnaterial at the expense of person
notified. The provisions of this ordi-nance shall not be applicable to construction, naintenance or repair projects of
any street or alley or any utilities in the right-a-way.

fn surnmary, Ordinance No. 6 states that it Ls unlawful for any person to litter, track or deposit any soll, rock, sand, debris or naterial, lncluding trastr dumpsters, portable toilets and worknen vehlcles upon any street, sidewalk, alley or publlc place or any portion thereof. The right-of-way on atl Town of Vail streets and roads is approxiroately 5 ft. off pavement.This ordinance nill be strictly enforced by the Town of Vall Pub1ic Works Departnent. Persons found violating this ordlnance will be given a 24 hour written notice to renove-said naterial .fn the event the person so notified does not conply with the notice within the 24 hour tine specified, the public Works Departnent will remove said naterial at the expense of peraon notified. The provlsions of this ordinance shall not be applicable to construction, naintenance or repair projects of any street or alley or any utllltles ln the right-a-way.
