PUBLIC WORKS PERMIT PROCESS
How it relates to Building Permits:
1) Fill out our check list provided with a buildino oermit apolication.
lf yes was answered to any of the above questions. then a "public way" is
required. You can pick up an apptication at either community Development,
located at 75 S. Frontage Road or Public Works; located at 1309 Vait Vattey Diive.
2) Notice sign otfs for utility companies. All utilities must field verify (locate)
respective utilities prior to signing application. Some utility companies require up
to a 48 hour notice to schedule a locate.
3) A construction traffic control/staging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet
of paper.An approved site plan may also be used. This plan will show locations
of afl traffic control devices(signs, cones, etc..) and the work zone, (area of
Gonstruction, staging, etc..). This plan will expire on oct. 15th. and will need to
be resubmitted for approval through the winter.
4) Sketch of work being performed must be submitted indicating dimensions (length,
width & depth of work). This may be drawn on the tratfic control plan or a site
plan for the job.
5) Submit completed application to the Public Works's otfice for review. lf required,
locates will be scheduled for the Town of Vail Electricians and lrrigation crew. The
locates take place in the morning but, may require up to 49 houis to perform.
6) The Public Work's Construction lnspector will review the application and approve
or disapprove the permit. You will be contacted as to the status and any thai may
needed. Most permits are released within 48 hours of being received, but pleas6
allow up to one week to process.
7) As soon as the permit is processed, a copy will be faxed to community
Development allowing the "Building Permif'to be released. Please do not confuse
the "Public Way Permit" with a "Building Permit" to do work on a project itself.
NOTE:
* The above processi is for work in a publlc way only.* Public Way Permits are valid only until November 15th.'A new Public way Permii is required each year if work is not complete.

Dear Mr. Tang:
Thank you for taking time to meet with me on Friday, November 4, 1994. I thought it might be
helpful for me to put into writing what we discussed. The Town looks forward to "closing out
the books" on the Lionshead Center redevelopment by finalizing the parking issues. The
Town's position continues to be the position stated in our February 7, 1994 letter. I have
attached a copy of that letter for your information. We anlicipate receiving $67,a43.4a (plus
interest) to cover all parking expenses related 1o the redevelopment of the Lionshead Center
Building. lf, in the future, you would like to convert two of the spaces in the parking garage
into storage, I will be happy to discuss your options concerning that proposal at a later date.
It will be important to keep in mind that will be reviewed as a new project and can be started
only after the current project is closed out.
I also appreciale your comments about the proposed Serrano's Building redevelopment. Your
insight into development in the Village is interesling. I appreciate your point of view as an
adjacent property owner (Red Lion) and will do what I can to address your concerns. As we
discussed at our meeting, it is important to note that the exterior alteration criteria and
variance criteria are what we will use as we formulate our slaff position on the proposal. I
plan to have a model of the proposal soon. lf you are interesled, please give me a call the
next time you are in town and lcan arrange to have it at our office for you to review.

Dear Andy:
Pursuant to our nunerous conversations, I arn writing this
Memorandum to clarify several points regarding the credit for two
parking spaces during the review process for the renovation of the
above described property. At the time of the original approval ,Mr. Tang executed the parking assessrnent docunentation based upon
L2-I spaces and paid the appropriate twenty percent (2oZ) down
payment.
Subsequent to this agreement, a parking credit of two spaces
was discussed. At the tine the credit was given, it was assumed
that the trash encl-osure, sufficient in sj-ze to accommodate the
needs of the building, coul-d be constructed and still have room for
two parking places. Because the area in question is a general
common element and controlled by the Association, the Association's consent was necessary. After numerous discussions with the
Association, a final plan was agreed to solving the trash problen
for the building, but the plan did not all-ow for the increase of
parking spaces as originally contemplated and upon which the credit
was given.
Compounding the probl-em was the installation of a necessary exit from Vail Associates remodeled space from the same area.
Because of this exit, parking will not work in the remaining portion of the space adjacent to the enclosed dumpsters.
The revised subrnitted plans, approved by aII parties, relating
back to the original approvals and perrnits would appear to be the
best solution for everyone, including the Town of VaiI.

and therefore no credit was warranted.
I rtould request the Town delete the credit for the two parking

The following items were missing during a review of the plans submitted to my oftice for approval.
These items must be addressed prior to final health department approval for the building permit.
The missing items are as follows:
(1) A copy of the proposed menu to allow for evaluation of proposed equipment to meet
demand.
(2) Based on the location of the handsink in the service area, the proposed mop sink must also
meel requiremenls as a hand sink.
(3) There is no clean dish table at the dishmachine indicated for the storage of racks as they
come out of the machine. The dish tables both lett and right of the machine appear to be
soiled dish tables.
The ceiling tiles for the lay-in ceiling in the kitchen musl be vinyl coated.
There are no dry storage areas indicated on the plans for the storage of dried food products,
staples, paper products or chemicals. Where is this to occur?
The proposed vinyl flooring in the kitchen must be finished with coved baseboard.
There is no floor sink indicated in the area below the vegetable prep sink/3 compartment
sinUdishmachine area. The vegetable prep sink must be air gapped to a floor sink.
There have been no details or specifications submitted for the lay-out or equipment in the
bar.
(9) Drawings are missing for the mechanical system especially as it relates to the 2 new Type
ll hoods in relation to existing duct work.
(10) There is no grease trap indicated on the plans nor is there any letter of exemption from
Upper Eagle Valley with the permit application. A grease trap is required unless Upper
Eagle Valley waives the requirement.
(11) Equipment cut sheets are still needed for the following pieces of equipment: mop sink, pizza
prep table, stainless work table, 3 compartment sink, dishtable, rack shelf, salad top
refrigerated unit, walkin refrigerator and all equipment proposed for the bar.
