The IntelliKnight Model 5820X1
control oanel has one built-in
Signalling Line Circuit (SLC) which
supports 127 devices. Three
additional looos can be added
using the 581sXL SLC expanders
to increase overall capacity to 508
oevtces.
The Model 5820X1's SLC loops
support multiple device types:. Addressable photoelectric smoke
detector . Addressable ionization smoke
detector . Addressable heat sensor . Addressable duct smoke
detector . Contact module . Relay output module . Addressable notification module
The following advanced sensor
capabilities are available using the
IntelliKnight Model 5820X1:. Automatic drift compensation . Maintenance alert . Builtin sensor test to comply
with NFPA 72 calibration testing
reouirements
The lntelliKnight 5820X1 features a
5 amp power supply and maximum
battery charging capacity of 33
amo hours. An additional cabinet
in excess of 17 amp hours.
Flexpul'" circuits on the Model
5820XL control can be individually
programmed to function as notifi-
cation circuits, auxiliary power
outputs, or initiation circuits that
support both 2- and 4-wire smoke
detectors.
The IntelliKnight system operates
on non-twisted, unshielded cable
when wired in comoliance with
standard wiring practices as called
out in the National Electric Code
760 specifications for power-limited
fire protective signalling cables. No
special wiring is required.
The Model 5820XL provides seven
preset notifl cation cadence patterns
including ANSI 3.41 and four user
programmable selections for fire
alarm notification.
Two programmable general
purpose Form C relay outputs are
provided on the Model 5820XL

The IntelliKnight Model 5820X1
features a buillin UL listed digital
communicator for remote reporting
of system activity and system
programming. The communicator
has the ability to seize two
telephone lines to report alarms
and troubles to a monitoring facility.
The communicator supervises two
phone lines and will activate a
trouble signal if a line failure is
sustained for more than 45
seconds. Other communication
features include: retry if communi-
cation fails, two phone number
capability, download phone number
capability and touchtone or rotary
compatible with SIA and Ademco
Contact lD. The format is
selectable by account number.

The IntelliKnight's built-in
annunciator with 80 character LCD
display and large easyto-use
tactile touchpad can be used for
system operation, programming
and maintenance. lt has five LEDs
for alarm, supervisory, system
trouble, system silenced and
system power. System operations
include silencing alarms and
troubles, resetting alarms and the
display of alarm troubles and
memory. The system's non-volatile
event history buffer stores 1000
events for viewing from the built-in
or remote annunciator. System
operation can be initiated with a
mechanical firefighter's key or a
valid 4- to 7-digit operator's code.
The IntelliKnight system offers
several options to simplify and
speed up programming. The
JumpstartrM feature minimizes
programming required to start a
new system. The built-in keypad
and the 5860 Remote Annunciator
give on-site access to all
programming. You can also
program remotely using the

Bring the power to control IntelliKnighto
to every area within your facility.
Now you can operate and program your IntelliKnight system from up to 8 locations throughout your facility. The
Model 5860 Remote Annunciator provides the same advanced, easy-to-use interface found on the lntelliKnight
panel's built-in annunciator. The 8O-character display and ergonomically designed keypad allow for simple and
error-free system operation. All operations-including reset, silence, detector status checking, fire drill, and
programming-are identical.
Access to the system is through a firefighter's key or an access code. For security, a special installation code is
needed for programming functions.
The 5860 connects to the IntelliKnight panel via the RS485 system bus. Wire runs can be up to 6000 feet from
the oanel.
Model 5860
Remote Annunciator
The 5860 is designed to look and
operate exactly the same as the
IntelliKnight built-in annunciator.
Features include an 80-character
backlit LCD providing easyto-
understand system messages. The
annunciator is ergonomically
designed with over-sized buttons
for the most frequently used
features, like Reset and Silence.
In addition to status messages
displayed on the LCD, there are
five LEDs for alarm, supervisory,
trouble, silence, and AC power
status.
The annunciator is available in gray
to match virtually any decor and red
for applications where the
annunciator must stand out. The
annunciator enclosure can be
surface or flush mounted. A trim
ring kit is available for surface
mounting.
Operation
When the system is normal and
receiving AC powel the power LED

IntelliKnight heat detectors are an essential component in virtually any lntelliKnight installation. The IntelliKnight

Like other IntelliKnight detector models, the SD505-AHS offers a low profile for pleasing aesthetics.

The SD505-AHS is a heat detector

absolute temoerature device. This
means that it responds in alarm if
the temperature goes above the

The SD505-AHS provides accurate
temperature measurement data to
the fire alarm control panel. This
heat detector is particularly suited
to environments where smoke
detectors cannot be used because
of the presence of steam or
cooking fumes, such as in a
kitchen.
lf the temperature exceeds the trip

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The ESL 4291449 and 428/448 Series low-profile, sell-diagnostic, two-
and four-wire smoke detectors work on the light scattering principle. A
pulsed infrared light-emitting diode serves as the light source, and a
high-speed photo-diode as the sensing element. This design has
superior protection against false alarms caused by dust, insects, RF
and ambient-light.
These Series of smoke detectors are especially suited for residential
occupancies, including hotels, motels and dormitories, as wellas other
commercial and industrial flre-system applications. This Series is
designed for 2-wire and 4-wire connection, respectively, to 6-24 V DC
fire alarm conlrol panels, UL Listed for commercial or household fire
Drotection.

Candela Evacuation Signals
Applications
The Commander3 Series is a low
profile strobe or horn/strobe
combination that offers deoendable
audible and visual alarms and the
lowest current available.
The GE3 Series offers field
selectable candela options of 15, 30,
60, 75, and 110 can{ela.
The Commandero Series horns
offer a new synchable chime and
whoop tone and provide a selection
of high or low dBA as well as a
selection ol a 2400 Hz (remote
signaling) or a low frequency broad
band 1500-3000H2 mechanical
sounding (evacuation) tone where
doors could be a oroblem.
The GE3 Series are easily field
changeable from temporal 3 to a
continuous tone by simply removing a
jumper. The GEC3 is shipped from
the factory on the temporal lower
frequency mode and it comes
standard with a rugged cast metal
mounting plate.
The CommanderJ has a minimal
operation current and has a minimum
flash rate of 1Hz regardless of input
voltage.
The CommanderJ Series comes
standard with the 4" mounting plate
which incorporates the popular
"SupersliderM" feature that allows you
to easily test for supervision. Also
included is a locking mechanism
which secures the product to the
bracket without any Fcrews showing
The Commanded (GE3 Series)
appliances are UL 464 and UL 1971,
