All installations of exterior hot tubs or spa's require a DRB approval from planning. This applicaUon will
not be accepted without a copy of the DRB approval form attached (if applicable).
If this permit is for installation of an exterior hot tub or spa on a new elevated platform or deck over
30" above grade, you must also obtain a building permit.
If this permit is for installation of an exterior hot tub or spa on any existing deck or elevated platform,
a structural engineer must review the o<isting condition and veriry that it will support the added
concentrated load. Please provide a copy of the structural engineers wet stamped letter or drawing
with this application.
If this is a remodel in a multi-family building with a homeowners association, a letter of permission
from the association is required.
If this permit is for a commercial space, two (2) sets of stamped drawings are required. Elecfrial

Town of Vail Fircolace Ordlnance
In September of 1991, the Vall Town Council adopted an ordinanoe which r€stuicts b oonstruction and
use of open headtr ftrcplaces within municlpal boundaries. Since that time the oldinanoe has
undergone numerous changes and revisions, striving for comprcmise, yet effectiyeness in addressing
the air quality issue. Therefiorc the following criteria has been adopted:
o GonsEuction of open hearth wood burning fireplaoes is no tonger permitted within Town of Vail
municipal boundaries.
Dwellino Units- Each new dwelling unit may ontain:
One (1) EPA Phase II cert'fied solid fuel hrrning dwioe and no more than two (2) gas applhnes
(B vent)
OR
Two (2) gas log fircplaces and no morc than hro (2) gas appliance fireplaces (B bent).
Restricted Dwellino Units - Each new retrlcted dwelling unit may contain:
One (1) gas log ftreplace and not more tfran one (1) gas appliance fireplace.
Ammmodatiod Units - Each new aooommodaUon unit may ontain:
One (1) gas log ftreplace or one (1) gas appliance fireptaoe.

unit, tfie omblned unit may retain one woodburning fircplae (if one already exists) and no more

mus;t t{ren comply with all provisions of the ordlnance. That is, the fireplace must be converled b
