Meadow Drive Dear Paul and Katherine: I am responding to your rcquest for information about the viability of "bumping out" your deck to match adjacent decks. From a staff perspective on urban design, the present articulation of decks lying in different planes is a positive feature of the Skaal Haus Condominiums. However, this is not to say that no expansion of your deck would be possible. You may submit a DRB application to perfbrm the expansion. The t'ee is $20.00 and I've included the appiication form. The Design Review Board will make the final determination as to whether or not the deck exoansion can be perlbrmed. Thirty years ago we purchased Condominium #4 at Skaalhaus. l4l W Meadow. Vail.Some years later 3 more condominium units were adjoined to the existing building at the east end. During that phase somc small changes were made to the exterior of the decks and railing of the original building The changes consisted ofa staggered appearance to the fiont deck and railing ofunits l,4,and 6 (these were chosen arbitrarily ) this resulted in the loss of 26 square feet ofdeck space to these units. At that time the landscape was inmature, now the building is all but invisible from the street. We are planning a fill in similar to what is occuring at skaalhaus Condo #2. We lost part of our deck with the change in design and now we request to reclaim the deck space in order to make it compatible and functional with the fifl in.
