INTRODUCTION:
On April 17th, 2012 an inspection/survey was conducled and 5 bullc
samples were collecteci from:
Mill Creek Court Building
302 Hanson Ranch Road Uttit 401
Vai� CO.
The purpose of the inspection/sw-vey was to locate and sampie
suspectcd Asbcstos containing rnatcrials that might bc prescnt in thc unit that
is planned for scic;etive intcnor renovativn.
The mspection was madc, and the samples were collected by John R.
Peterman, an A.�I.F,.R.A. and State of Colorado Ccrtified Asbestos
Inspector. Great care was taken during the inspection and sampling tv be as
accurate as poss�ble. It should be noted that minimal damage was done to
thc cxi.st�g building structures during thc inspection so there is no
documentation for unseen conditions or stored items.
All samples were analyzed by DCM Science Lab in Wheat Ridge, CO.
This laboratory is deemcci "Proficicnt" in thc E.P.A.Quality Assurancc (QA)
program for the deternlination of asbestos in bulk materials, and is accredited
by the American tiygiene Assoc�ation (AHA).
SAMPLLNG PROTUCOL:
A random sampling scheme was used to sample the suspcct materiaL� that
were discovercd. If during any future demolition or renovation work,
sus�ect material is di.scovered that hasn't been sampled and would be
di�turbed, work shoulci be halted until the material has been tested.

Renovation Area DescripNon:
Thc urtit 401 planned for interior rcnovation. The interior walls arc covcrcd m
sheetrock, wood, and brick. The ceilings arc covcrcd in sheetrock I�Ce thc
walls. The floors are covered in carpet and ceramic tiles.
CONCLUSIONS & RECUMMENAATIONS:
Laboratory analysis of thc bulk samples indicates that Asbestos wa,s detected
in five out of five composite sheetrock samples. The Asbestos content of the
positivc samples is less than the Rcgulatory Limit (Grcater than 1%
Asbestos). The Asbestos content was verificd by the required Point Count
Anatys is.

Asbestos Testing & Abatement Requirements
Asbestos testing and abatement protects workers, homeowners, neighbors and emergency services responders from ex-
posure to harmful asbestos. It is your responsibility to be in compliance with the State. Please contact the State directly
for their requirements at the contact info listed below.
When is asbestos testina reauired?
ANY building projects disturbing more than these threshold levels of building materials require asbestos testing:
One- and Two-Family Dwellings: 32 square feet
All Others (commercial spaces, hotel rooms, etc): 160 square feet
Definition of a single-family dwelling: any dwelling unit that is used primarily for a single family, including
multi-family/condominium units, and fractional fee units.
Asbestos testing results must be provided with your application for a building permit.
Tests which identify POSITIVE results at more than 1% require abatement by a State-certified abatement contractor. The
clearance letter must be submitted to the Town of Vail before the building permit will be issued.

Tips & Facts:
• Even recent construction projects may include asbestos-containing materials, so buildings of � age require testing.
• The "1989 Ban" on asbestos-containing materials is commonly misunderstood. "In fact, in 1991 the U.S. Fifth Circuit
Court of Appeals vacated much of the so-called "Asbestos Ban and Phaseout" rule and remanded it to the EPA. Thus,
much of the original 1989 EPA ban on the U.S. manufacturing, importation, processing, or distribution in commerce
of many asbestos-containing product categories was set aside and did not take effect." - CDPHE
