General Information: This application is required for all proposals involving minor changes to buildings and site improve-
ments, such as roofing, painting, window additions, landscaping, fences, retaining walls, etc. Applicable Vail Town
Code sections can be found at www.vailqov.com under Vail Information — Town Code Online. All projects requiring de-
sign review must receive approval prior to submitting a building permit application. An application for Design Review
cannot be accepted until all required information is received by the Community Development Department, as outlined in
the submittal requirements. The project may also need to be reviewed by the Town Council and/or the Planning and
Environmental Commission. Design review approval expires one year from the date of approval, unless a building per-
mit is issued and construction commences.

To whom it may concern,
This letter is to acknowledge Board approval at Chatenu Tremonte unit 3 for
a deck replacement per the attached drawings. The Board approves the
architectura) revision with the following conditions:
• All Town of Vail requirements are met.
• Licensed Contractors to perform mentioned work and structural
engineer report for (oad approval.
• Board recommends trex material be used.
• The homeowner shal) be perpetually responsible for all maintenance of
the deck replacement.
• All landscaping restored to its original state.
• Owner shall carry insurance for the hot tub and indemnify the
association of unything regarding the use of this tub.
• Call management for inspection when project is complete for final sign
off.

Foundation desi�n based upon assumed maacimum soils bearing capacity of 2500
psf and equivalent fluid pressure of 50 pcf to be verified by a soils en�ineer at the
time of excavation. All footings are to bear upon natural undisturbed soi] or com-
pacted structural fill as approved by the soils engineer. Submit copy of report to
engineer.
All foundation around perimeter of structure shall have minimum frost protection
of 48" to bottom of footing. All foundation walls and columns to be centered on
concrete footings unless shown otherwise on plans.
All cast in place concrete must be made with Portland cement and attain mini-
mum compressive stren�th of 3000 psi after 28 days (minimum compressive
strength of 4000 psi after 28 days for concrete used in slabs). Design based upon
BUILDING CODE REQUIIZEMENTS FOR REINFORCED CONCRETE (ACI
318), 1999. Concrete placement to conform with "Construction Requirements" as
defined in ACI 318. All exposed edges of concrete shall have'/z" chamfer. Con-
crete work shall not have any horizontal cold joints unless authorized by the eng-
neer.
Reinforcing steel is ASTM Grade 40. Reinforcement placement shall confom� to
MANUAL OF STANDARD PRACTICE, 2001 as prepared by CRSI. All lap
splices to be minimum 36 bar diameters, all horizontal reinforcement to be con-
tinuous around corners and at wall intersections. Minimum reinforcement protec-
tion-

All lumber shall be wolmanized Hem-Fir #2 S4S or better (all lumber within 18"
of finish grade or in contact with concrete must be wolmanized). All timbers are
Doug-Fir #1 or better. Provide solid blocl:ing at 8'-0" on center in all dia-
phragms. All columns to be continuous bearing to foundation.
Glulam materials, manufacture and quality control shall conform to STANDARD
SPECIFICATIONS FOR STRUCTLTRAL GLUED LAMINATED TIMBER OF
SOFTWOOD SPECIES, AITC 117-2004 and TIMBER CONSTRUCTION
MANUAL (5�' edition) as prepared by AITC . Simple span beams shall be Com-
bination Symbol 24F-V4 with no camber. Continuous or cantilevered beams shall
be Combination symbol 24F-V8 with no camber. Glulam columns shall be Com-
bination Symbol 3. Adhesives shall conform to the requirements for wet condi-
tions of service. Exterior-unprotected use Glulams to be Alaska Yellow Cedar.
Structural steel shall be ASTM A36 or better, anchor bolts and bolts shall be
A307 or better. AIl structural steel is to be detailed, fabricated, painted and
erected in accordance with AISC STEEL CONSTRUCTION MANTJAL, 2005
and CODE OF STANDARD PRACTICE. All welding to be performed by a cer-
tified welder and conform to AISC and AWS STRUCTLTRAL WELDING
CODE, 200Q all electrodes to be EE-70XX . Grout beneath all base plates and
beam bearing plates sha11 be non-shrink epoxy with minimum 28 day compressive
strength of 5000 psi. All Trubolt Wedge Anchors to be installed according to
manufacturer's specifications and details.
8) Cover decks with 2x6 Redwood or approved equal with 2 screws per bearing
point typical, see manufacturers standard details and specifications.

-Wind-90 mph (3 second gust), Exposure B.
-Earthquake-Zone GIBC.
10) All construction must comply with the 2009 Intemational Building Code as
adopted by the Town of Vail Building Department and the "General Conditions of
the Contract for Construction" (AIA Document A201). All construction must be
completed within the tolerances described in the "Residentia] Construction Per-
formance Guidelines" as prepared by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF
HOME BUII,DERS.
11) All beams, joists, and rafters are to bear upon walls or beams, or be hung with
SIMPSON Strong-Tie hangers or approve equals.
12) All structural members are shown in their final positions properly braced and sup-
ported; during construction it may be necessary to temporarily shore portions of
the structure while other portions are being constructed. Contact the engineer for
consultation as required.
13) General Contractor is responsible for all non-specified connections, contact engi-
neer for details as required. The engineer is to approve all structural substitutions.
14) General Contractor is to coordinate all diaphragm penetrations (i.e., chimneys,
plumbing, sewers, etc.) through floors, walls, roofs and foundation walls with ap-
propriate sub-contractors. General Contractor is responsible for the means, meth-
ods, techniques, sequences, procedures, workmanship, seasonal scheduling and
job-site safety associated with this project. The General Contractor is to verify all
dimensions and elevations with the architectural drawings. Notify engineer of all
conflicts and omissions between various elements of the working drawings and
the existing conditions prior to commencing with that portion of the project. -
General Contractor is to inspect remodel projects and verify prior use and proper
disposal of existing materials (i.e., asbestos, etc.) as renuired by code. Original
construction documents for these buildings was not available for review.
15) All materials exposed to exterior and or moisture conditions shall be treated for
these conditions (i.e., chemical treatment, staining, painting, damproofing, mem-
branes, flashing, etc.) as required by code. All materials to be treated or protected
for fire resistance as required by code.
16) Special inspection to be completed by building official approved inspection
agency for poured-in-place concrete construction including reinforcing steel,
structural steel construction and soils information. Inspection reports to be pre-
pared in accordance with IBC Chapter 17 on approved forms, verifying compli-
ance with construction documents and be submitted to the building of�icial for re-
view and approval, copying the owner, general contractor and engineer. Coordi-
nate inspections with general contractor so that special inspections can be periodic
rather than continuous.
