information with all plan revision items clouded or otherwise identified.
● Please respond in writing to each comment with a response letter addressing each comment.

1. Annotate on plans Carbon Monoxide Detectors required.
Structural Comments:
Sheet A2.1
1. Clarify if deck is less than 30 and is not
the egress for the home. If these two items apply a permit for the deck is not required. If the deck exceeds 30” and or is the main entrance a permit is required and the following needs
to be addressed:
a. Frost depth in Vail is 48”. Show how frost protection is to be provided. Reference section 1809.5 IBC
b. Provide thickness and width of footing
c. Proposed support
for the deck is a point load. Show calculations for how this load is to be distributed without a supporting member.
d. How is the new deck being attached to the existing deck? Plans
do not reflect attachment method.
e. Clarify the stability of the existing stone wall supporting the deck.
f. Provide data showing how 3” anchor bolt embedment into the stone wall is
adequate to support the deck. Reference section 1604.4 IBC .Is this to be epoxied or an expansion bolt?
2. Plans to reflect the design loads per the IBC and local geographic location.
3. Boulder walls 48” or more are to be designed by a professional engineer per Town of Vail amendments.
See Title 10 of the town municipal code. Revise plans or provide engineered plans
