Obligee for certain physical improvements in Sundial Phase I, Parcel 2
Bighorn, 5th Edition Soil Erosion Control(During the Winter months
should there be an open foundation; the foundation will be protected
and the Principal will exercise erosion control and if the above is
not accomphished by June 30 , 1982, the Principal will restore the site
to its original condition) as set forth in the contract .
NOW, THEREFORE, If the said Principal , hereinbefore set forth,
shall fully and faithfully perform all the work specified to be done
and performed by said Contract executed between said Principal of this
bond and the Town of Vale , State of Coloradolin accordance with said
contract , which contract is made a part hereof by reference , the same
as if fully incorporated herein, then this obligation shall be boid and
of no further legal effect ; otherwise this bond shall remain in full
force and effect in law; it being expressly understood and agree that
the liability of the Surety for any and all claims hereunder shall i4_
no event exceed the penal amount of this obligation as herein stated

Re : Review of foundation forPa_rcel 2 ' Sundial Phase 1, Bighorn 5th
Addition, Eagle County, •olorado.
Dear Norm:
As per your request, I have reviewed the foundation plan and details
for the duplex residential buildings in the 5th Addition to the Bighorn
Subdivision, Sundial Phase 1, Parcel 2, Eagle County, Colorado. This
review is based on your Cantebury model and the foundation plan and
details by John N. Perkins, Architect, Vail, Colorado, The review is
also based on the soils conditions and capacities as reported by
Chen and Associated, Inc., Glenwood Springs, Colorado, in their
report #23,283 dated November 5, 1981. Foundation loading criteria
is a snow load of 80 psf and a normal residential floor loading.
In the review of the foundation nlan dated 9-14-81 as revised 18 Dec,
1981 (Sheet S1 ) and the detail sheet dated 10-2-81 (Sheet S2) there
was only one item which needed to be changed. This item is the
vertical reinforcing for the basement walls. Since these walls are
indicated as full height basement walls they should be reinforced
to support the retained earth loadings. This condition would require #5
rebars vertical at 12" oc (Grade 60) for the walls which are 8' in
height (Detail A, Page S2). This steel size and spacing is based on
the assumption of a free draining gravel layer against the wall and
a perimeter drain to prevent hydrostatic loading to the wall.
With the above change, I find the foundation plan and details to be
adequate for the proposed structure and observed soils conditions.
