Bath Exhaust Fan Sizing

Please refer to diagram "A", sheet M 1 A for sizing calculations. The 2009 IMC requires 50 CFM
of exhaust for each water closet or shower. Thus, at Casa del Sol, each bathroom requires 100 ,
CFM.
The fans and ducts have been sized to provide approximately 125 CFM, which exceeds the code
requirement. The bathroom doors have been undercut '/z"to provide adequate transfer air. The
undercut doors will allow the air to flow from the hall, through/past the shower area and then
into the water closet enclosure,thus effectively ventilating both areas.
Furthermore, the bath fans are being set-up to run continuously(to maintain a negative pressure,
with respect to the apartment above), which further helps to properly ventilate both areas due to
the increased run time as compared to code (code requires 50 CFM, but only intermittently).
