Hello
We are owner's and fulltime residents at Altair. It has come to our attention that our remodel has been stalled
due to a problem from your office. It was discovered that the meter stack at the East end of our building needs
to be replaced. Some one in your department has told our contractors that the entire building needs to be
rewired.
This is not a realistic option. The current work on our building has depleted the reserve fund for the building.
While
my wife and I were able to pay the assesment many including a Town employee were not. Is there not away that
we can
upgrade the meters and get the other work done at a later date. We understand that this is a old building and
needs work.
Please help us.

Mr. Coughlin,
The Town has not stalled the project nor has the town told the contractor to rewire the building.
The contractor requested; what is required from the town to issue a permit to replace the main service due to some
electrical breaker failures?
They have been informed that an electrical engineer is required to provide load calculations and design criteria for its
replacement to insure compliance with the electrical code. According to the contractor, this has been done and the
service is overloaded at this time. I informed the contractor in order to change the service the panel will have to be
upgraded to comply with the electrical code.
In that the electrical code is in place to protect the property as well as the lives of those using electrical equipment, the
Town of Vail will require any work done by your contractor to meet the minimum requirements of the electrical code.
Please note: these have all been verbal communications with the electrical contractor. The Town of Vail has not received
a revision to the approved plans for replacement of the service equipment nor has seen the documentation that the
contractor related to me verbally. So in regards to the scope of the work, I am not able to adequately respond to your
question until a submittal is made of the proposed work.
Sincerely,
Martin
