A. Unlarrfirl deposits: Subject to subsectron C thereof, it is untawfirt for any person to litter,
track or deposit, or cause to be littered, tracked or deposited, sand, gravel, rocks, mud, dirt,
snow, ice, or any other debris or material upon any street, sidewalk, alley or public place, or
any portion thereof.
B. N;tice: Abatement: The Director of Public Works may notiS and require anv person who
violates or causes another to violate the provision of subsection A hereof, or who has in the
Director's employment a person who violates or ctuses another to violate the 54me. top
remove such sand, gravel, rocks, mud. dirt, snow, ice or any other debris or material within
twenty four (24) hours after receipt of said notice by the Director of Public Works. ln the
event the person so notified does not comply with the notice within the period of time herein
specified, the Director of Public Works, or other authorized agent, may cause any such sand,
giavel, rocks, mud, dirt, snow, ice, debris or any other material to be removed ftom any street
or alley at tJre expense of the notified.
C. Exceptions: The provisions of subsection A hereof shall not be applicable:
1. Within the immediate area of any construction, maintenance or repair project of any
street or alley or of any water main, sewer main, electricity line, gas line, telephone line
or any appurtenance thcreto;
Z. fo aeposits of sand, dirt or materials n€cessary for the protection of the public safet-v; and
3. To public areas designated for the dumping or depositing of said materials.
D. Summons; Penalty: As an alternative to the notice for removal provided in subsection B
above, any
person rvho violates or causes another to violate the same, may be issued a sumrnons to
appear before the Municipal Court of the Town for said violations, and upon being found
guitty ofa violation hereunder be punished as provided in Section 1-4-l of this code.
E. Notiie; Penalty: It is unlawful foi any person to farl or refuse to complv rvith the notice of
the
Director of Public Works as provided in subsection B hereof, and any such person shall, in
addition to payment of the expense of removal incurred by the Dircctor of Public Works, as
provided in subsection B hereof, upon being fbund guilty ofa violation hcreunder" be

BUILDING PERMIT ISSUANCE TIME FRAME
If this permit requires a Town of Vail Fire Department Approval. Engineer's (Public Works)
review and approval, a Planning Department review of Health Depanment review, and a review
by the Building Department. the cstimated time for a total review may take as long as three (3)
weeks.
All commercial (large or small) and all multi-family permits will have to follorv the above
mentioned maximum requirements. Residential and small projects should take a lesser amount of
time . Horvever, if residential or smaller pro3ects impact the various above mentioned
departments rvith regard to necessary revier.v. these projects may'also take the three (3) rveek
period.
Every attempt will bc made by this dcpartment to expedite this permit as soon as possible.

the permit is not picked up by the expiration date. that I must still pay the Plan Check Fee and

PUBLIC WORKS PERUIT PROCESS
How it reiates to Buildine Permits
i. Fill out our check list provided with a Building Permit Application.
If yes was answered to any of the questions then a "Public Way" is required. You
can pick up an application at either Community Development, located at 75 South
Frontage Road or Public Works, located at 1309 Vail Valley Drive.
2. Notice sign offs for utility companies. All utilities must field verify (locate)
respective utilities prior to signing application. Some utility companies require up
to 48 hours notice to schedule a locate.
3. A construction traffrc control/staging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet of
paper. An approved site plan may also be used. This plan will show locations of
all traffic control devices (signs, cones, etc.) and the work zone, (area of
Construction, Staging, etc.). This plan will expire on November I st and wiil need
to be resubmitted for approval through the winter.
4. Sketch of work being performed must be submitted indicating dimensions (length,
width and depth of work). This may be drawn on the traffic control plan or a site
plan for the job.
5 Submit completed application to the Public Work's office for review. If required,
locates will be scheduled for the Town of Vail Electricians and Irrigation crew.
The locates take place in the moming, but may require up to 48 hours to perform.
6. The Public Work's Construction Inspector will review the application and
approve or disapprove the permit. You will be contacted as to the status and any
requirements that may be needed. Most permits are released within 48 hours of
being received, but please allow up to one (l) week to process.
7. As soon as the permit is processed, a copy will be faxed to Community
Development allowing the "Building Permit" to be released Please do not
confuse the "Public Wav Permit" with a "Buildins Permit" which is to do work
on a proiect itself
NOTE:
The above process is for work in a public way ONLY.
Public Way Permits are valid only until November l5th.
A new Public Way Permit is required each year if work is not complete.

twenty four (24) hours after receipt of said notice by the Director of Public Works. [n the
event the person so notified does not comply with the notice within the period oftime herein
specified. the Director of Public Works, or other authorized agcnt. may cause any such sand,
gravel, rocks, mud, dirt. snow ice, debris or any other material to be removed from any street
or alley at the expense of the notihed.
C. Exceptions: The provisions of subsection A hereof shall not be applicable:
I . Within the immediate area of any construction- maintenance or repair project of any
street or alley or of any water main, seler marn, electricity line, gas line, telephone line
or any appurtenancc thereto:
2. To deposits ofsand, dirt or materials neccssary for the protection ofthe public safety; and
3. To public areas designated for the dumping or depositing ofsaid materials.
D. Sumrnons; Penaltv: As an alternative to the notice for removal provided in subsection B
above, any
person who violates or causes another to violate the same. may be issued a summons to
appear before the Municipal Court ofthe Torvn for said violations. and upon being found
guilty ofa violation hereunder bc punished as provided in Scction l-4-l ofthis codc.

review and approval, a Planning Deparunent review of Health Departrnent review, and a review
by the Building Deparffnent, th€ estimated time for a total review may take as long as three (3)
weeks.
All commercial (large or small) and all multi-fumily permits will have to follow the above
mentionod maximum requirements. Residential and small projects should take a lesser amount of
time. However, if residential or smaller projects impact the various above mentioned
depar[nents with regard to necessary review, these projects may also take the three (3) week
period.
Every attempt will be made by this departrnent to expedite this permit as soon as possible'

required by code for this remodel. All tre walls of this space are 8 inctr concrete and the ceiling is at or
below grade. Further, the exterior wall space is limited due to an existing deck and bay window.
Thersfor we are asking if we can install a 6.0 x 4-0 window to meet the requirement of the Town.

RE: Drainage Impact of Talon Project
The Town of Vail Department of Public Works has
reviewed the plans of the Talon project and has
determined that the additional drainage would
seriously impact the area below the Talon site.
In order to alleviate problems resulting from the
extra drainage 1oad, the Ta1 on developers will be
required to either construct a zero discharge system
or make improvements jn the impacted area be'low the site. The improvements needed be'low Ta'l on inc'l ude
two catch basins and a cu'lvert system frcm Meadow
Road, east of Buffer Creek Condcrniniums to a catch
basin north of the Frontage Road (approximately 200 ft.); and a rock trench at the west end of the rock
wall on Ridge Road. A zero discharge system, 'if
chosen, will also need our approva'| . No Certificate

PUBLIC WORKS PERMIT PBOCESS
How it relates to Building Permits:
1) Fill out our check list provided with a buitdino oermit aoolication.
!f yes was answered to any of the above questions then a "public way" is
required. You can pick up an application at either community Developmenf,
located at 75 S. Frontage Road or Publib Works, located at tsds VailValley Drive.
2) Notice sign offs for utility companies. All utilities must field verify (locate)
respective utilities prior to signing application. Some utility companies require up
to a 48 hour notice to schedule a locate.
3) A construction traffic controUstaging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet
of paper.An approved site plan may also be used. This plan wilt show locations
of all traffic control devices(signs, cones, etc..) and the work zone, (area of
Gonstruction, staging, etc..). This plan will.expire on oct. 1Sth. and will need to
be resubmitted for approval through the winter.
4) Sfglcn of work being performed must be submitted indicating dimensions (length,
width & depth of work). This may be drawn on the traffic control ptan oi a iite
plan for the job.
5) Submit completed application to the Public Works's office for review. tf required,
locates will be scheduled for the Town of Vail Electricians and lrrigation crew. The
locates take place in the morning but, may require up to 4g houis to perform.
6) The Public Work's Construction Inspector will review the application and approve
or disapprove the permit. You will be contacted as to the status and any that may
needed. Most permits are released within 48 hours of being received, but ptease
allow up to one week to process.
7) As soon as the permit is processed, a copy will be faxed to community
Development allowing the "Building Permit" to be released. Please do not confuse
the "Public Way Permit" with a "Building Permit'to do work on a project itself.

In sunnary, Ordinance No. 6 states that it is unlawful for any
person to litter, track or deposit any soil, rockr saild, debris
or material, including trash duurpsters, portable toilets and
worknen vehicLes upon any street, sidewalk, altey or public
place or any portion thereof. The right-of-way on all Town of Vail streets and roads is approxirrateJ-y 5 ft. off pavernent.
This ordinance will be strictly enforced by the Town of Vail
Public l{orks Departrnent. Persons found violating this ordlnance wIlI be given a 24 hour written notice to remove said naterial .In the event the person so notified does not conply with the
notice within the 24 hour tirne specified, the Public works
Departnent will renove said rnaterial at the expense of person notified. The provlsions of tltis ordinance shall not be
applicable to construction, rnaintenance or repair projects of
any street or alley or any utilitles in the right-a-way.
