ROOFING
The intelligent, permanent solution to the most impoftant paft of your home.
Through the joint efforts of VOLVO's and Gavle Verken's-
A coated steel
pantile that beats
the classic glazed
original
A new manufacturing technique gives authentic
appearance
When the steel metal technology at VOLVO was combined with the con-
struction and roll forming technology at Gavle Verken AB, the result was a roof-
ing system with all the visual appeal of a glazed tile roof without any weak
points thanks to a new patented production technique.
All the advantages of a glazed tile roof - without the
disadvantages
One square metre of concrete tile weighs about 40-50 kg, while a square
metre of DIPLOMAT weighs just 5 kg-. There is an enormous difference in load
on the supporting roof structure. By choosing a light gauge steel roof, the roof
structure will be lighter and the complete roof structure will be substantiallv
less exoensive.
DIPLOMAT roofing is manufactured in continuous panels that measure
3680 mm x 965 mm (approximately 12 feet long by 3 feet wide) which reduces
the number of overlaps on your roof to a minimum.
DIPLOMAT roofing can be specially cut to fit any roof with full length from
ridge to eaves. Quick and simple installation - even an amateur can do ihe iob.
Years of service and unmarred elegance
No other company in Europe has longer experience in the field of industrial
coating methods as Gavle Verken AB.
The well known coating PVF, (Polyvinylduofluoride), firsl made available
in the mid seventies, and coated on to millions of square metres of sheet steel
has shown its superior qualities even in the most agressive of environments
year after year.
Gavle Verken PVF, is standard on the DIPLOMAT roofing system - special
coating systems designed to meet the exact requirements of the customer are
available on request. Ask your nearest DIPLOMAT distributor for full details.
Your DIPLOMAT roofing system will keep its "as new" look year after year
and you will never have to worry about replacing your roof again.
The ultimate in elegance, safety, low weight and
economy
. The DIPLOMAT rooJing system is ideal for all types of house and building,
large or small, old or new, urban or rural. Give your home a really elegant roof
that will enhance its looks for years to come regardless of style.
Apart from the economical advantages gained by using a DIpLOMAT roof,
we have even built in the toughness and quality that made VOLVO famous the
world over. lt is simple to install, virtually maintenance free, resistant to the ef-
fects of frost, snow, ice, rain, sun and fungus, - a DIPLOMAT roofing system is
incombustible.

Method 1. D|PLOMAT roofing
on a 45 x 70 mm batten with a
secondary roof covering of rein-
forced plastic sheet, or oil-har-
dened hardboard. This method is
often used in the construction of
new roofs. The same detailing is
also used when renovating roofs
that were previously covered with
corrugated asbestos, concrete
pantiles or the like. Check the
quality of the existing secondary
roof covering. Damaged portions
must be reoaired or replaced. The
battens may need to be adjusted
to accomodate th6 DIPLOMAT
roofing. Detailed instruction on in-
stallation and fastening is given in
the Installation Instructions, ob-
tainable from your nearest Gavle
distributor or from Gavle Verken -
Sweden direct. Gutters and other
fittings may be kept but should be
caref ully inspected first.
Method 2. DIPLoMAT roofing
on a felt covered panel roof.
This method is often used
when renovating clay tile and con-
crete tile roofs. The old roofing
material is removed along with the
battens. The felt underlay is
checked for damage and repaired
if necessary. New counter battens
are installed and the DIPLOMAT
roof panel fastened in place.
This method may even be
used on other types of roof such
as felt, shingles, folded sheet steel.
lf the old felt roofing material
is of good quality and without
damage or wrinkles, the DIPLO-
MAT roofing panels may be
screwed down directly on to the
old roof without battens.
Method 3. DTPLOMAT roofinq
on corrugated asbestos.
Before renovating a corru-
gated asbestos rooJ it is necessary
to check the condition of the old
roof and its battens. lf it is in ooor
condition the old roofing surface
must be removed as described in
Method 1 . lf it is better to leave the
old corrugated asbestos in place
then the method shown here is the
most suitable.

When using galvanized coated steel sheet in constructron it is a require-

Re: Vail Polnt Ridge lleight, First triplex to the West of the ExLstJ.ng rroject, Soutlr Eide of Private Road
Dear Randy:
Our department has revj.ewed your design solution for the ridge height problen for the niddle unit in the Building 3 conplex. we will staff approve the change to the roof form. I must emphasize that the ridge height must not exceed the allowable ridge height of 8rL43.75 feet. This elevation assunes a base elevation of
8, 105. 75.
I also reviewed the design solution with Dan Stanek of the building division. He witl require that the drawing by Ray Davis
and Associates, dated March 1.2, L99I , be starnped by the engineer.I ask that you send us a faxed copy of the stamped drawing before you actually implement the work on the roof. Later on, please
send us a hard copy of the drawing. Once this drawing is received, we will allow the contractor to work on correcting the ridge problen. Once the surveyor shoots a new ridge elevation for the ridge, and it is found to comply with the maximum allowable ridge elevation of 8rL43.75 feet, the staff witl lift the red tag.
AIso, I tried calling the job site, using the number 476-8845.
There lras no answer at this phone. For this reason, I thought it
would be best to write you a letter to document our approval.
