review or Health Department review, and a review by the Buitding
Department, the estimated time for a total review may take as long as three weeRs.

The GV boiler may be vented directly through an outside
wall, through a roof, or by running vent pipe through arr
unused chimney. Because of the very high 871o operating
efficiency, condensation can occur in the venting system.
Weil-Mclain approved nonmetallic vent pipe eliminates
corrosion and must always be used-either Plexco
PLEXVENT@ or Hart and Cooley UL.ITRAVENT". (Note:
AL29-4CN stainless steel is also certified and may be
reouired bv some local codes.) To simplifv condensate
removal. a-drain connection is located al the bottom left
side of the boiler.
When venting through a chimney, the vent pipe must be
run through the entire length of the chimney. The chimney
can be used only as a racewa-v.
A mixing vahe regulates return water temperature to
orevent condensation on the boiler sections.
Tho or more high-efficiency GV boilers can be used in
place of one large-capacity boiler to meet the space-heating
requlrement s ol larger Duuorngs.
With multiple GV boilers, system operating efficiency is
increased sinie the boilers can be sequencedio only thbse

I performed the heat loss calculations on the home, and I found the total output required
at altitude tobe 142,175 Btuh. we will be installing two high efficiency weil Mclain
boilers at 175,000 Btuh input (each) at sea level. This boiler plant will also heat domestic
hot water via a 120 gallon storage tank with internal heat exchanger. These boilers are
listed and rated to be side vented and the combustion air is piped directly to each boiler
with 3" galv. or PVC pipe (reference enclosed cut sheets).
The heating system consists of seven zones of true in-floor radiant heat. Even though
these boilers are rated for alcove installation, I have performed the calculations for the " l6
times" rule, and they are enclosed with this letter.

AIl crawl spaces within the Town of Vail are limited to a earth to
structural floor ceiling height of 5', be earth floor only, be
ventilated as per UBC 2516(c)6 with minimum access as per UBC
2516(c)2 and maximum access of 9 sq. Ft.
Any building site with a slope of 30 degrees or more shall reguire an
engineer design. Such design shall address drainage, soil retainage,
and structural design.
