Gentlemen:
This letter Is in response to your request for addi6onal information to be provided for the issu�ncer af the
Phased Construction Building Permit for the abave referenoed project. This correspondence is
specf�cal(y related to the Town of Val! F'rre Department cornments related fire flow and water supply
required for the project.The following is the requested information and the reQuested revised response
from the design team regarding the drawings dated Q5/24/07 and subsequent rnee6rtgs held recently at
the site:
Town of Vail Fire Department(Mike McGee) Review Comme�tt#1 -Plans show an existing 8 inch waler
main feeding a fire hydrant in the existing garage access. Rlans also show a 4 inch domestic tap and a
six inch fire main being tapped into the 8 inch fine. Revise COOQ6 plans to provide adequate ffre flow.
Response—The design team conducted a fire flow test on,1une 20, 2007. !n attendance were
Alpine Engineering, BCER Engineering,VRDC representatives and T6V Building
and Fire Departmer�t. This resuited in calculating avai0able fire flow both the actua�
arad modefed fiow available. It was ther�determined by the design team Ehat due to
the critica{nature of the f�re line and fire hydrant serving the Marriot, Gore Creek and
the Retz C�rlton that fire protection and domesfic water suppty waulcf best be serviced
from the existir�g 'f 2 inch water line in Lionshead Circle. The relocation of the water
taps also helped ensure that the fire lane and fire department access du�ing
construction on the east side of the Ritz project would be maintained open as much
as possible, the desigc�team has rnoved these taps further#o the west of the original
location ta facilitate the fire line and domestic water service entrances and minimize
the constructian impact an the fire lane an the east side of the site.

Refer to the attached drawing sheet ESI-001-R which indicates the proposed new fire
protection and domestic water taps being relocated to the 92"fine located in
Lionshead Circle. 7he actual loaation of this line with a!! interior appurtenances will
be indicated on the dtawings far Revision#6 to be issued in the near future.
