Re: Lot 13 Matterhorn Village Redevelopment
Ladies and Gentlemen:
The owner's of Lot 13, Matterhorn Village request approval of the proposed new single family
residence to replace the existing structure.
The proposed design celebrates Vail's European aesthetic with simple Bavarian forms, natural
wood siding, divided windows, white stucco and natural stone.
The unique site afforded the concept of one single stone wall cutting through the site naturally
retaining grade and allowing the new structure to step with the site. As if it were a ruin from the old
country, this stone wall serves as the backbone connecting two simple structures that enjoy four
different on -grade walk -out levels.
Clad in regional stone veneer, the stone wall: compliments the other exterior materials; provides a
strong base element to the structure; affords strategic site retaining; and marries the structure to site
for a very natural fit.
The two simple forms of the house use deep roof overhangs and expressed timber structure to align
with the areas European mountain roots.
The high quality materials of the design will be a significant improvement to the neighborhood and
will be enjoyed by a full time local family.
