o You must obtain Design Review Board (DRB) approval if any of the mechanical work will involve
ANY ocerior work. This includes and is not limited to removal and rcplacement of drivenray snow
melt systems. Please @ntact the Development Review Coordinator at 479-2128 for additional

o The Town ofVail has adopted the 2OO3International Mechanical Code and the 2OO3 International
Fuel Gas Code.
r All new construction within the Town of Vail is considered to be of unusually tight construction,
thus all combustion air is required to be drawn from outside the structure for mechanical
eouipment.
Town of Vail Fireolace Ordinance
In Sepbmber of 1991, the Vait Town Council adopted an ordinance which reslricts te onstruction and
use of open hearth fireplaces within municipal boundaries. Sance that time the ordinance has
undergone numerous changes and revisions, striving for compromise, yet effectiveness in addressing
the air quality issue. Thercforc the following criteria has been adopted:
I Construction of open hearth wood burning fireplaces is no longer permitted within Town of Vail
municipal boundaries.
r Dwellino Units - Each new dwelling unit may contain:
One (1) EPA Phase II certified solid fuel burning device and no morc t'han h^ro (2) gas appliances
(B vent)
OR
Two (2) gas log fireplaces and no more than two (2) gas appliance fireplaces (B bent).
Restricted Dwellino Units - Each new restricted dwelling unit may contain:
One (1) gas log fireplace and not more than ohe (1) gas appliance fireplace.
Accommodatioil Units - Each new accommodation unit may contain:
One (1) gas log fircplace or one (f) gas appliance fireplace.
ff two or more sepante dwelling units or accommodation units are combined to form one lalger
unitn the combined unit may retain one woodburning ftreplace (if one already exists) and no more
than 2 gas appliance fireplaces, or may convert up to two existing fireplaces to gas.
If during the cource of a remodel an odsting woodburning fircplace is altered or moned, dte unit
must then comply with all provisions of the ordinance. That is, the fireplace must be convetted to
natural gas or ryplaced by an EPA Phase II certified uniL

The bay windo}, to be installed in the d.ining area of Timber Fallsunit 701 is a bay window seat only and does not cause the floorto extend into the bay area. The window seat will be about 30inches off the floon. The wood siding between the two windowsis to fill in for architectural reasons and to match the other
windows that have been added in the past. I be1ieve that there isno GRFA relationship to the bay window we would iike to install in
Timber Falls unit 701. The fiiral interior is tike a window seat.
