I apologize for not getting in touch with you before you left Vail. I have.researched your question
re6arOiig the redeJelopirent potential of your lo1. According to the plat for Gore Creek Meadows
tsi Fiting-, the size ol your lot is .502 acres, or 21,867 square feet. This lot ls zoned Residentlal
clr.ster Ind allows 6 dwelling units per acre. Your lot would be allowed a total of 3 dwelling units,
either single family, duplexes or a triplex-
In regard to the absorption field, I discussed this issue with the planning staff and determined that
*e nled information before it can be decided if this land can (a) count toward your lot area and
(b) be built upon. With the following information, I can help you determine is this land can be
used.
Who owns the absorption field? ls it held in common ownership with the other lots, or is your part
of the absorption field part of your deed for lot 4? lf it is held in common, you cannot use it to
calculate density allowances and it cannot be built on. lt is possible, however, lor the owners of
the four lots to iequest a replatting ol this filing, thereby eliminating the absorption field trom the
plat and adding that square footage to each lot. The absorption field dedicated to Lot 4 is .262
acres, or 1 1,413 square feet. Adding that amount to your lot could increase your denslty to 4
units.

In sumnary, Ordinance No. 6 states that lt ls unlawful for any person to1ltter, track or deposit any soll, rock, sand, debris or material, includlng
trash dumpsters, portable toilets and workrnen vehicles upon any street,
sidewalk, alley or public place or any portion thereof. The right-of-way
on all Town of Vail streets and roads ls approxinately 5 ft. off pavement.
This ordinance will be strlctly enforced by the Town of Vail Publlc Works
Departrnent. Persons found violating this ordinance will be given 24-hour
written notl-ce to remove said material. In the event the person so notified
does not comply nlth the notice lrithin the 24-hour time specl-fled, the
Public Works Department will remove sald materlal at the expense of person
notlfied. The provisions of this ordinance shall not be applicable to
construction, uaLntenance or repair projects of any street or alley or anyutilltles in the right-of-way.

A. Unlawfirl deposits: Subject to subsection C thereof, it is unlawful for any person to litter,
tack or deposit, or cause to be littered, tracked or deposited, sand, gravel, rocks, mu4 dirt,
snow, ice, or any other debris or marerial upon any street, sidewalk, alley or public place, or
any portion thereof.
S. Notite; Abatement: The Director of Public Works may notiff and require any person who
violates or causes another to violate the provision of subsection A hereof, or who has in the
Director's employment a person who violates or causes another to violate the same, top
remove such san4 gravel, rocla, mud, dir! snow, ice or any other debris or material within
twenty four (24) houn after receip of said notice by the Director of Public Works. In the
event &e person so notified does not comply with the notice within the period of time herein
specified, the Director of Public Works, or other authori zed agen\ rnay c{u.lse any such sand,
gravel, roc|s, mud, dir! snow, ice, debris or any other material to be removed from any sfeet
or alley at the expense ofthe notified.
Exceptions: The provisions of subsection A hereof shall not be applicable:
l. Within the immediate area of any constructiorl maintenance or repair project of any
street or alley or of any water main, sewer mairq electricity line, gas line, telephone line
or :uy appurteruDce ttrereto:
2. To deposits of san4 dirt or matprials necessary for the protection of the public safety; and
3. To public areas designated for the dumping or depositing of said materials'
Summons; Penalty: As an alternative to the notice for removal provided in subsection B
above, any
person who violates of causes another to violate the same, may be issued a surnmons to
appear before the Municipal Court ofthe Town for said violations, and upon being found
guilty ofa violation hereunder be punished as provided in Section l-4-l ofthis code.

If this permit requires a Town of Vail Fire Department Approval, Engineer's (Public Works)
revicw and approval, a Planning Deparfinent review of Health Departrnent review, and a roview
by the Building Deparhnent, the estimated time for a total review may take as long as three (3)
weeks.
All commercial (large or small) and all multi-family permits will have to follow the above
mentioned maximum requirements. Residential and small projects should take a lesser amount of
time. Howcver, if residential or smaller projects impact thc various above mentioned
departrrrents with regard to necessary review, these projects may also take the three (3) week
period.
Every attempt will be made by this deparnnent to cxpedite this permit as soon €rs possible.

PUBLIC WORKS PER]I{IT PROCESS
How it relates to Buildins Permits
Fill out our check list provided with a Building Permit Application.
If yes was answered to any of the questions then a "Public Way" is required. You
can pick up an application at either Community Development, located at 75 South
Frontage Road or Public Works, located at 1309 Vail Valley Drive.
Notice sign offs for utility companies. All utilities must field verifu (locate)
respective utilities prior to signing application. Some utility companies require up
to 48 hours notice to schedule a locate.
A construction traffic controVstaging plan musl be prepared on a separate sheet of
paper. An approved site plan may also be used. This plan will show locations of
all traffic control devices (signs, cones, etc.) and the work zone, (area of
Construction, Staging, etc.). This plan will expire on November lst and will need
to be resubmitted for approval through the winter.
Sketch of work being performed must be submitted indicating dimensions (lengttL
width and depth of work). This may be drawn on the traffic control plan or a site
plan for the job.
Submit completed application to the Public Work's offrce for review. If required,
locates will be scheduled for the Town of Vail Electricians and lrrigation crew.
The locates take place in the morning, but may require up to 48 hours to perform.
The Public Work's Construction lnspector will review the application and
approve or disapprove the permit. You will be contacted as to the status and any
requirements that may be needed. Most permits are released within 48 hours of
being received, but please allow up to one (l) week to process.
As soon as the permit is processed, a copy will be faxed to Community
Development allowing the "Building Permit" to be released. Please do not
confuse the "Public Way Permit" with a "Building Permit" which is to do work
on a project itself.
NOTE:
The above process is for work in a public way ONLY.
Public Way Permits are valid only until November l5e.
A new Public Way Permit is required each year if work is not complete.
