Heat-N-Glo Model 6000TVFL gas fireplace installations in sleeping rooms
I have reviewed the materials provided by the manufacturer, the supplier and the installer
regarding thcse units. The listing information confirms that the units are approved for installation
in bedrooms as long as there is sufficient volume in the room and that the listing is for standard
"Type B" venting. Thus, from an installation safety standpoint. the following requirements apply:
I ) The room in which a unit is located should have at least 50 cubic feet of volume for each 1,000
Btuh of rating for the appliance. For example, a 30,000 Btuh gas fireplace unit would require a
room with a volume of at least 1500 cu. ft., or about a 12' X l6' room with an 8' ceiling.
2) The units must be supplied with an outside combustion air kit.
3) The units must be vented with Type "B" vent meeting all of the normal requirements of their
listing and the Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC). The units may lol be vented with "direct vent"
(inner/outer) piping, as this would not be in compliance with their listing.
