Frontage Rd. Vail, CO 81657 To Whom It May Concern, It has come to my attention that upon removing boards along the outside edge of the second floor deck of Bldg. K that is under repair, it was discovered that the full length of the two-ply 2x10 perimeter beam (approximately 50') was rotted. The beam may be replaced with a treated two- ply 2x10 DF. No. 2 or better grade beam using three rows of 3" long x No. 8 wood screws at 16" o/c along the length of the beam. The two plies of the beam should be spliced over a supporting post. If the two plies are not spliced over a supporting post then the 2x12 facia/rim board should be run continuous over each beam splice with a minimum of 4'-0" overlap and attached with 3 rows of #8 wood screws driven from the face of the 2x12 facia/rim board. Both plies of the beam may not be aligned together if the beam is not spliced directly over a post. It should also be noted that 3" long (min.) #8 wood screws may be substituted for lOd nails as specified on the approved deck repair plans for Buildings K& L. Ste. 3 Breckenridge, CO 80424 RE: Subject location: Project #: C0.5287.02 Addendum: Timber Ridge Apartment - Deck Repairs, Buildings K& L 1280 N. Frontage Rd. Vail, CO 81657 To Whom It May Concern, I have reviewed the multi-ply deck beam splice confgurations for the above noted buildings that are being repaired. In most cases the two plies of the beam are not spliced over a supporting post and the 2x12 facia/rim board does not overlap the splice by at least 4'-0". In these cases the spliced member should be fastened to the other plies using three rows of 1/4" x 4-1/2" SDW (Simpson Strong Drive Structural Wood Screws) at 3" o/c with a total of 6 screws on each side of splice. Similar sized Simpson SDS or TimberLok fasteners may be substituted for SDW fasteners. Sincerely, CENSPACE, LLC aoo R, ...... lC, .,°M'C```o - 2 i Tim Morgen, P.E.
