Some codes use a multiplier as low as 30 watts/Foot while others use a multiplier os high as 70 watts/foot. When using the energy efficient lighting technologies available today, the connected load is typically much less than the per-foot multipliers used by most energy codes. This penalizes lighting designs that employ irac lighting and wastes available lighting watts that could be used more effectively. Below is a typical troc lighting exampie. The Standard Layout consists of 100' of single circuit trac with 32 CMH trac heads, each using 39W lamps, for a total co�nected (oad of 1440W. The Revised Layout Using Short Trac Segme�ts has the same 1440W con- nected load but uses sixteen short 4' trac segments (64'�, each fed seporately, to help minimize the impact of the watts per foot multi- plier. The scenario with the Trac-Master Current Limiting Subpanel uses the original 100' of single circuit trac, with each monitored by a 4-Amp current limiting supplementary protector that is closely matched to the actual connected load of 1440W plus a small buffer. This results in the minimum colc�lated watts per the energy codes. 1. The Trac-Masfer Subpanel employs supplementary current limiting circuit breakers configured specificaliy for the lighting design in the space. Rather than lighting loads being calculated by the greater of maximum fixture wattage ratings or an arbitrary watts per foot multip{ier, the TrarMaster Subpanel enables calculations to instead be made based on the rating of the supplementary subpanel breaker. Because it limits a circuit not the (ighting equipment itself, the Trac-Master subpanel provides maximum flexibiliiy to accommodate frequent lighting design modifications and layout changes, especially typical for retail spaces.
