(DSC) performed a limited background air sampling within the utility closet and associated hallway of the single-family residence located at 1030 Lions Ridge Loop, Unit 202, Vail, Colorado in which a recent, non-permitted asbestos abetment project was conducted to remove approximately six square feet of asbestos-containing vinyl flooring. The purpose of the background air sampling was to determine if the Maximum Allowable Asbestos Level (MAAL) of 0.01 fibers/cc was exceeded utilizing Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM), which is not specific to asbestos fibers, but counts all criteria fulfilling fibers in order to show no asbestos contamination was present within the air following the abatement. 2.0 Scope of Work The background air sampling was limited to the utility closet in which the asbestos-containing flooring was removed as well as the associated hallway outside of it. The remaining areas within the residence, garage or any out-building on the property were not included in the scope of the inspection. 3.0 Site Description The residence is a wood-framed, single-level, single-family residence one the second level of a multi-unit building of similarly constructed units. 4.0 Certifications The limited background air sampling was conducted by Mr. Steve Shurtliff with DSC. DSC is a Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) certified Asbestos Consulting Firm, Registration No. 14912. Mr. Shurtliff is a CDPHE certified Air Monitoring Specialist; having certification number 15413 (seeAppendixAforcertificates). 5.0 Inspection, Sampling & Analytical Procedures The limited background air sampling and the PCM air sample analyzation were conducted by Mr. Steve Shurtliff with DSC. DSC is a CDPHE certified Asbestos Consulting Firm, Registration No. 14912 and a participant in the Industrial Hygiene Proficiency Analytical Testing (IHPAT) program with laboratory ID No. 188987 maintaining a rating of Proficient. 6.0 Overview of Findings DSC collected two background air samples from the residence. Neither sample exceeded the MAAL following PCM analysis. BRL - Below Reporting Limit 7.0 Conclusion & Recommendations The MAAL was not exceeded following the background air sampling collected within the residence; therefore, no professional abatement activities are required to clean the area. 8.0 Disclaimer & Limitations The activities outlined in this report were conducted in a manner consistent with a level of care and expertise exercised by members of the environmental consulting and industrial hygiene profession.
