Ann,
On December 19, 2012 we were asked by the owner and the contractor to perform a site visit
and evaluate removing supply diffusers in Vail Ale House in Vail.
The owner wishes to eliminate ductwork as well as removing diffusers and supply air directly
from main duct openings.
We reviewed this approach in place and we have no objections to do the following:
1) All supply diffusers in main dining area as designed can be removed.
2) Supply air can be delivered via existing branch openings in the main trunk, but those
opening must be equipped with a mesh screen or blade diffuser.
3) Unwanted openings can be capped as long as the remaining openings continue
delivering the same amount of air (CFM) as per design.
4) The east ductwork running above the kitchen can be cut at the kitchen wall and that
opening can be equipped with a mesh screen or blade diffuser. We recommend keeping
other two ducts extended towards the windows as per the design.
5) The existing balancing dampers installed in each branch opening should remain to allow
balancing the system.

needs anything else.
