Minor Exterior Alteration
General Information: This application is required for all proposals involving minor changes to buildings and site improve-
ments, such as roofing, painting,window additions, landscaping, fences, retaining walls, etc. Applicable Vail Town
Code sections can be found at www.vailqov.com under Vail Information—Town Code Online. All projects requiring de-
sign review must receive approval prior to submitting a building permit application. An application for Design Review
cannot be accepted until all required information is received by the Community Development Department, as outlined in
the submittal requirements. The project may also need to be reviewed by the Town Council and/or the Planning and
Environmental Commission. Design review approval expires one year from the date of approval, unless a building per-
mit is issued and construction commences.

Hi Warren,
I'll pick the railing sample up when I come in to apply for the building permit.
First the stone will need to wrap the corners of the garage to the inside facade corner underneath each unit's steps. Let
me know if this s not clear. This is cl�ar.
The reason I am hesitating on getting this approved and out is that I am trying to ascertain if the planter between each
unit should become stone as well. When you put stone the garage fa�ade it will touch the planter and I believe it may
look inappropriate (architecturally speaking)to have a stucco planter projecting out of the stone wall. I can staff approve

Ross,
I went to the site on Thursday and Friday of last week and missed you both times. I have a comment and a question
regarding the stone.
First the stone will need to wrap the corners of the garage to the inside facade corner underneath each unit's steps. Let
me know if this s not clear.
The reason I am hesitating on getting this approved and out is that I am trying to ascertain if the planter between each
unit should become stone as well. When you put stone the garage fa�ade it will touch the planter and I believe it may
look inappropriate (architecturally speaking) to have a stucco planter projecting out of the stone wall. I can staff
approve this application if the planter were to become stone, otherwise I will need to schedule the item for a Design
Review Board Hearing on December 5t" (the next hearing).
The railings will look great. To be clear all railings on both sides will need to be replaced including stair and the little gate
thing at the bottom of the west unit. You can submit this element to the building department for review and approval.
Let me know your thoughts.
