AREA. THE SCOPE OF WORK INCLUDES INTERIOR PARTITIONS, WIRING FOR NEW ELECTRICAL FIXTURES AND
DATA LINES, NEW MECHANICAL FCU AND DISTRIBUTION, NEW PAINT AND INTERIOR FINISHES, AND NEW
DISPLAY COUNTERS AND STORE FIXTURES

1. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PAYMENT FOR AND ACQUISITION OF ALL REQUIRED PERMITS AND FEES
ASSOCIATED WITH HIS/HER PORTION OF THE PROJECT.
2. THE CONTRACTORS SHALL CONFIRM THE LOCATION OF ALL EXISTING UTILITIES AND COORDINATE THE INSTALLATION OF
ALL NEW UTILITIES AND METER LOCATIONS WITH THE UTILITY COMPANY OR GOVERNMENTAL AUTHORITY HAVING
JURISDICTION OVER THE PROJECT.
3. IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S SOLE RESPONSIBILITY TO THOROUGHLY REVIEW AND BECOME FAMILIAR WITH ALL PERTINENT
DOCUMENTS AVAILABLE REGARDING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THIS PROJECT. ANY AMBIGUITY OR DISCREPANCY
DISCOVERED IN THE DOCUMENTS SHALL BE IMMEDIATELY REPORTED TO THE ARCHITECT WHO SHALL MAKE CLARIFICATIONS
AND INTERPRETATIONS IN A TIMELY MANNER. THE CONTRACTOR'S FAILURE TO DISCOVER AND NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT OF
SAID AMBIGUITY OR DISCREPANCY PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION SHALL NOT RELIEVE THE CONTRACTOR OF
RESPONSIBILITY RELATING TO THE MATTER.
4. CHANGES OR DEVIATIONS FROM THE DOCUMENTS, MADE BY THE CONTRACTOR OR THEIR SUPPLIERS, WITHOUT THE
WRITTEN CONSENT OF THE ARCHITECT, ARE UNAUTHORIZED CHANGES TO THE WORK AND AS SUCH SHALL RELIEVE THE
ARCHITECT OF ALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CONSEQUENCES ARISING THEREFROM.
5. PRIOR TO BEGINNING ANY NEW WORK OR INSTALLATION, IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO INSPECT
PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED WORK AND/OR SUBSTRATE AND VERIFY THAT ALL SUCH WORK IS SATISFACTORY AND COMPLETE TO
THE REQUIRED LEVEL OF ACCEPTANCE TO ALLOW FOR THE START OF SUBSEQUENT WORK. THE COMMENCEMENT OF ANY
WORK SHALL INDICATE THAT ALL PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED WORK AND/OR SUBSTRATE WAS FOUND TO BE ACCEPTABLE AND
INSTALLED ACCORDING TO INDUSTRY STANDARDS. ANY WORK FOUND TO BE IN UNACCEPTABLE CONDITION SHALL BE
REMOVED AND REPLACED AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO THE OWNER OR TENANT.
6. THE CONTRACTOR(S) SHALL VISIT THE PROJECT SITE PRIOR TO ESTIMATING THE COST OF THE SCOPE OF WORK AND PRIOR
TO ORDERING OR FABRICATING MATERIALS OR BEGINNING ANY CONSTRUCTION RELATED ACTIVITIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF
BECOMING COMPLETELY FAMILIAR WITH THE SITE AND ALL EXISTING CONDITIONS WHICH MIGHT IMPACT THE COST OF, OR
PERFORMANCE OF THE SCOPE OF WORK.
7. ALL CONSTRUCTION IS TO BE PERFORMED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ALL APPLICABLE CODES AND THE REQUIREMENTS OF
ALL REGULATORY AGENCIES HAVING JURISDICTION OVER THE PROJECT. UNDER NO CONDITION DOES THE ARCHITECT
HAVE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE MEANS OR METHODS USED BY THE CONTRACTOR IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THE WORK OR
FOR CONDITIONS OF SAFETY AT THE JOB SITE.
8. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE ALL FINISHES, MATERIALS, AND COLORS WITH THE ARCHITECT, GENERAL
CONTRACTOR, OWNER AND TENANT.
9. ALL EXPOSED STEEL SURFACES THAT ARE WELDED ARE TO BE GROUND SMOOTH, PRIMED AND PAINTED.
10.DIMENSIONS OF AND FROM EXISTING CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN TAKEN FROM EXISTING DRAWINGS AND/OR FIELD
MEASUREMENTS. ALL EXISTING DIMENSIONS ARE TO FINISH FACE UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE ON DRAWINGS. THE
CONTRACTOR(S) SHALL FIELD VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS PERTAINING TO THE EXISTING CONDITIONS, INCLUDING ALL WORK
ALREADY IN PLACE, PRIOR TO ORDERING OR FABRICATING MATERIALS, AND PRIOR TO START OF CONSTRUCTION.
11. IF, DURING THE COURSE OF ANY REQUIRED DEMOLITION WORK PERFORMED BY THE CONTRACTOR(S), OWNERS, OR
OTHERS UNDER THE TERMS OF THE SUBCONTRACT OR OTHER AGREEMENT, HAZARDOUS WASTE IS ENCOUNTERED, SAME
SHALL BE REMOVED AND DISPOSED OF AS REQUIRED BY THE AUTHORITIES HAVING JURISDICTION OVER THE PROJECT. THE
ARCHITECT AND GENERAL CONTRACTOR IS NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE OF THE EXISTENCE OF HAZARDOUS WASTE AND SHALL
NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EXISTENCE OR REMOVAL OF HAZARDOUS WASTE.
12. THE CONTRACTOR(S) SHALL KEEP PREMISES FREE FROM ACCUMULATION OF WASTE MATERIALS AND DEBRIS.
13. ALL DIMENSIONS OF NEW WALLS ARE TO FACE OF FRAMING UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE ON DRAWING.
14. DO NOT SCALE THE DRAWINGS, IF QUESTIONS ARISE AS TO DIMENSIONAL REQUIREMENTS, CONTACT THE ARCHITECT
FOR CLARIFICATION.
15. ITEMS OF EQUIPMENT OR CONSTRUCTION NOTED N.I.C. ARE NOT TO BE PROVIDED UNDER THE CONTRACT, AND
UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE SHALL BE FURNISHED AND INSTALLED BY OWNER'S SEPARATE CONTRACT.
16. ALL MATERIALS, FIXTURES AND EQUIPMENT PROVIDED UNDER THIS CONTRACT ARE TO BE PROVIDED IN NEW CONDITION
WITH FULL MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY, UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE, AN ARE TO BE STORED AND INSTALLED PER THE
MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS. DAMAGED ITEMS SHALL BE REPLACED AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO THE OWNER.
17. PROVIDE WATER RESISTANT SHEET ROCK AT ALL APPLICATIONS WHICH MAY BE SUBJECT TO THE ADVERSE EFFECTS OF
MOISTURE.
18. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DETERMINING APPROPRIATE FILL MATERIAL FOR FLOOR INFILL SUITABLE FOR EXISTING
STRUCTURAL CAPACITY AND PROPOSED FLOOR FINISHES.
19. INSTALL PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS PER LOCAL CODE. LOCAL FIRE MARSHALL TO CONFIRM LOCATIONS WITH
GENERAL CONTRACTOR.
20. NORTH ARROWS AS DEPICTED ON DRAWING SET ARE FOR PROJECT REFERENCE ONLY. CONTRACTORS ARE RESPONSIBLE
FOR VERIFYING ORIENTATION OF PROJECT SITE AND SCOPE OF WORK TO BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO START OF WORK.

GENERAL INTERIOR FINISH NOTES
Where materials are applied on wa1ls, ceilings or structural elements required to have a fire-resistance rating or to be of noncombustible construction, they shall comply with the provisions of this section.
Direct attachment and furred construction.
Where walls and ceilings are required for any provision in this code to be of fire-resistance-rated or noncombustible construction, the interior finish material shall be applied directly against such construction or to furring strips not exceeding 1.75 inches (44
mm) applied directly against such surfaces. The intervening spaces between such furring strips shall be filled with inorganic or Class A material or shall be fireblocked at a maximum of 8 feet (2438 mm) in any direction in accordance with Section 717.
Set-out construction. Where walls and ceilings are required to be of fire-resistance-rated or noncombustible construction and walls are set out or ceilings are dropped distances greater than specified in Section 803.4.1. Class A finish materials shall be
used except where interior finish materials are protected on both sides by an automatic sprinkler system or attached to noncombustible backing or furring strips installed as specified in Section 803.4.1. The hangers and assembly members of such dropped
ceilings that are below the main ceiling line shall be of noncombustible materials, except that in Type III and V construction, fire-retardant-treated wood shall be permitted. The construction of each set-out wall shall be of fire-resistance-rated construction
as required elsewhere in this code.
Materials. An interior wall or ceiling finish that is not more than 0.25 inch (6.4 mm) thick shall be applied directly against a noncombustible backing.

Duct and air transfer openings shall comply with IBC Section 716. See Mechanical Drawings
SAFETY GLAZING GENERAL NOTES
Glazing in the following locations will be of safety glazing material and conform to IBC Section 2406.3:
1. Ingress and egress doors except jalousies.
2. Fixed and sliding panels of sliding door assemblies and panels in swinging doors other than wardrobe doors.
3. Unframed swinging doors.
4. Fixed or operable panels adjacent to a door where the nearest exposed edge of the glazing is within a 24-inch (610 mm) arc of either vertical edge of the door in a closed position and where the bottom exposed edge of the glazing is less than 60 inches
(1525 mm) above the walking surface.
5. Individual fixed or operable panels, other than those locations described above, that meet all of the following conditions:
a. Exposed area of an individual pane greater than 9 square feet (0.84 m2).
b. Exposed bottom edge less than 18 inches (457 mm) above the floor.
c. Exposed top edge greater than 36 inches (914 mm) above the floor.
d. One or more walking surfaces within 36 inches (914 mm) horizontally of the plane of the glazing.
6. Walls enclosing stairway landings or within 5 feet (1525 mm) of the bottom and top of stairways where the bottom edge of the glass is less than 60 inches (1525 mm) above a walking surface.
FIRE BLOCKING GENERAL NOTES
Fire blocks should be provided in accordance with Section 717.1 in the following locations:
1. In concealed spaces of stud walls and partitions, including furred spaces, at the ceiling and floor levels.
2. In concealed spaces of stud walls and partitions, including furred spaces. At 10-foot (3048 mm) intervals along the length of the wall.
3. At all interconnections between concealed vertical and horizontal spaces such as occur at soffits, drop ceilings and cove ceilings.
4. In concealed spaces between stair stringers at the top and bottom of the run and between studs along and in line with the run of stairs if the walls under the stairs are unfinished.
5. In openings around vents, pipes, ducts, chimneys, fireplaces and similar openings that afford a passage for fire at ceiling and floor levels, with noncombustible materials.
6. At openings between attic spaces and chimney chases for factory-built chimneys.

A. Fire-Rated Wood Doors: Provide wood doors which are identical in materials and construction to units
tested in door and frame assemblies in accordance NFPA 252 and which are labeled and listed for ratings indicated by ITS - Warnock Hersey, UL or other
testing and inspection agency acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction.
1. Doors: Comply with UBC 7-2 1997 where required.
2. Provide concealed intumescents required in compliance with UL-10C.
B. WDMA I.S. 1A-04 Industry Standard utilized for determination of performance duty levels for door, core, construction, finish, and other requirements.
C. Temperature Rise Rating: At stairwell enclosures, provide doors which have Temperature Rise
Rating of 250 degrees F maximum in 30 minutes of fire exposure.
1.4 PRODUCT HANDLING
A. Follow guidelines of WDMA Industry Standard, Section J-1: Provide individual plastic wrap, and protect wood doors during transit, storage and handling to
prevent damage, soiling or deterioration.
B. Follow guidelines of AWI Section 100 -T--11 and Product Advisory: Building must be acclimated to operational humidity and temperature prior to delivery

1.5 GUARANTY/WARRANTY

2.5 FABRICATION
A. Fabricate wood doors in accordance with requirements of WDMA I.S. 1A-04 Industry Standard.
B. Fabricate fire rated doors in accordance with requirements of ITS - Warnock Hersey or Underwriters'Laboratories, with metal label on each door including
UL-10C.
C. Fabricate mineral core doors with WDMA Industry Standards minimum hardware blocking options as follows:
1. Provide HB-1 (head rail) and HB-4 (lock block) on all doors.
2. Substitute HB-6 (mid rail) when exit devices are specified for door.
3. Substitute HB-5 (stile) for pivots or when flush bolts are specified for door.
D. Provide doors with minimum ¼ inch thick edge strips, of wood species to match face veneers except
as required for fire rating.
E. Make cut-outs and provide stops for glass and louvers. Install wood door louvers. Seal cut-outs prior to installation of moldings.
1. For full light doors: Provide cut-out from flush wood door, with vertical grain direction.
F. Bevel lock and hinge edges of single acting doors 3 degrees or 1/8 inch in 2 inches. Radius strike edge of double acting swing doors as required by pivot
hinge manufacturer.
G. Prepare doors to receive hardware. Refer to Section 08710 - Hardware and NFPA 80 for hardware requirements including UL-10C.
1. Prefit and bevel to net opening size less approximately 1/4 inch in width on single swing doors
3/16 inch in width for paired doors. Provide 5/8 inch clearance above bottom of frame, unless otherwise indicated by sill condition drawings. Provide 1/8
inch clearance at top of door.
2. Slightly ease vertical edges.
H. Fire Rated Pair of Doors; greater than 20 minute: Supply overlapping astragals, metal edge sets or concealed intumescent material as required by NFPA
80 1999 or by door manufacturer’s fire door authorities. If an astragal is required, to comply with fire rated labeling requirements for pairs of fire rated
doors, provide door manufacturer's standard tested astragal assembly.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Examine installed door frames before hanging doors.
B. Verify that frames comply with indicated requirements for type, size, location, and swing characteristics and have been installed in accordance with SDI-
105 and SDI-122.
C. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
D. Installation of improper product constitutes full acceptance and responsibility for material and conditions.
3.2 INSTALLATION
A. Handle and store doors in accordance with recommendations of WDMA I.S. 1A-04, Section J-1.
B. Condition doors to average temperature and humidity in area of installation for not less than 48 hours prior to installation.
C. Install in neat and workmanlike manner, free from hammer or tool marks, open joints or slivers, set plumb, level, square and true.
D. Retain manufacturer’s packaging to place over installed doors after final cleaning.
E. Adjust pre-finished doors and hardware and other moving or operating parts to function smoothly and correctly in accordance with SDI-122.
F. Ensure that smoke gaskets are in place before pre-finished door installation.
G. Remove and replace all doors found to be warped, twisted, bowed, or otherwise damaged beyond manufacturer’s specified allowances and tolerances.
Do not install doors which cannot be properly fitted to frames.
3.3 CLEANING AND PROTECTION
A. Clean prefinished doors in accordance with AWI, Appendix, page A-637.
B. Place manufacturer’s packaging over installed doors after final cleaning; remove after Architect’s instructions.
C. At clear finished doors, do not partially cover door surfaces with paper, cardboard, or any other opaque covering that will create uneven aging of wood
veneer.
D. Protect doors as directed under Section 01700.
E. Refinish or replace finished doors damaged during installation.

C. Install studs vertically at 1 6 inches o.c. unless otherwise noted on drawings. Align stud web openings.
D. Secure studs to tracks. Brace stud framing system and make rigid.
E. Stud splicing is permissible by overlapping with flanges in opposite directions to form a box section with overlap length a minimum of 1/15 of wall height. Where
wall height exceeds 1 6’, wall shall be braced with diagonal studs at a maximum spacing of 8’ 0.C. from top 1/3 point of wall to roof structure.

RESILIENT FLOORING
The General Provisions of the contract, including General Conditions, Supplementary Conditions and Division 1, General Requirements, apply to the work
specified in this section.
PART 1 GENERAL
A. The extent of resilient flooring is shown on the drawings and finish schedule.
B. Items included but not limited to the following:
Resilient base and beveled edge strips
Adhesive
PART 2 MATERIALS
A. Samples - Samples of materials to be used shall be the full range of colors and patterns available of the product and submitted to the Architect for color
and pattern selection.
B. Resilient Wallbase - Vinyl cove base shall be used where concrete flooring butts vertical surfaces. Base shall be 4" in height or as noted in the drawings,
minimum 1/8 " gauge. Vinyl cove base color to be selected by Architect.
C. Transition Edge Strips - Edging strips as required shall be brown rubber 1" wide, beveled edging and shall be 3/32" thick.
D. Adhesives - Application material for resilient sheet flooring, vinyl wall base and edge strips shall be those recommended by the Manufacturer of the
specific material for the surface to which it is to be applied.
E. Underlayments - Mastic underlayment, such as Armstrong "5-180 Latex Underlayment" may be used for leveling and smoothing joints. Such mastic
underlayments to be manufactured and approved for use on suspended, on grade, and below-grade subfloors.
PART 3 EXECUTION
A. General:
1. Installation of all materials as specified under this section shall be as per flooring manufacturer's recommendations.
2. This subcontractor is responsible for surface preparation as required prior to installation of flooring, including vacuum cleaning, to prepare surface.
Substrate shall be thoroughly dry, clean and free of oil, grease, paint, varnish, etc., prior to installation of resilient flooring surface.
3. A temperature of 65° F. should be provided for 4 8 hours before, during, and for 48 hours after installation. A minimum temperature of 55° F must be
maintained thereafter.
4. Flooring and base shall be extended into all closets, recesses and alcoves,
where they are adjacent to resilient floors, as well as into all door reveals.
5. All edges and ends shall be accurately and neatly cut to fit against other work and any holes for pipes and other installations which pierce floors shall be
cut neatly and closely fitted. No broken, cracked or chipped material will be accepted.
B. Underlayment:
1. Where installation occurs over previously installed plywood subfloor, sand
smooth and use latex underlayment to level and smooth floors on all grade
levels.
2. Where installation occurs over precast or poured-in-place concrete, use latex underlayment to level and smooth concrete floors on all grade levels. Dusty
and porous concrete floors should be primed with a primer before installing tile. For other types of resilient floors: dusty, porous floors should be primed with
adhesive to be used (smooth trowel). Floor surface must be leveled to within 1/8" in 10 feet in any direction.

3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Verify that surfaces are ready to receive work as instructed by the product manufacturer for the various types of finishes specified.
B. Minimum Application Temperatures for Latex Paints:
Interiors - 45 degrees F. Exterior 50 degrees F.
C. Minimum Application Temperature for Varnish and transparent Finishes: 65 degrees F.
D. Measure moisture content of surfaces using an electronic moisture meter. Do not apply finishes unless moisture content of surfaces are below
the recommended maximum.
E. Beginning of installation means acceptance of site conditions.
3.2 PREPARATION
A. Correct minor defects and deficiencies in surfaces which affect work of this section.
3.3 APPLICATION
A. Apply products to manufacturer’s instructions.
B. Paint all exposed to view surfaces.
C. Sand lightly between coats to achieve required finish.
D. Do not apply finishes to surfaces that are not dry.
E. Where clear finishes are required, tint fillers to match
wood. Work fillers into the grain before set. Wipe excess from surface.
F. Back prime exterior wood work with exterior primer paint.
G. Back prime interior wood work with primer sealer paint.
3.4 MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT
A. Remove finished louvers, grilles, covers, and access panels on mechanical and electrical components from location and paint separately. Finish
paint primed equipment to to match adjacent work.
B. Prime and paint insulated and exposed pipes, conduit, boxes, insulated and exposed ducts, hangers, brackets, collars and supports, to match
adjacent work except where items are prefinished.
C. Paint interior surfaces of air ducts, convector and
baseboard heating cabinets that are visible through grilles and louvers with one coat of flat black paint, to limit of sight line. Paint dampers,
except fire-rated, exposed behind louvers, grilles, convector and baseboard cabinets to match face panels.
D. Paint exposed conduit and electrical equipment occurring in finished areas. Color and texture to match adjacent surfaces.
E. Paint both sides and edges of plywood backboards for
electrical equipment before installing equipment.
3.5 PROTECTION
A. Protect other surfaces from paint or damage. Repair damage.
3.6 CLEANING
A. As work proceeds, promptly remove paint where spilled, splashed, or spattered.

PROVIDE IDENTIFICATION ON INSIDE SURFACE OF FACEPLATE FOR RECEPTACLES AND SWITCHES IN PUBLIC AREAS OR IN AREAS AS DIRECTED BY ARCHITECT OR OWNER.USE IDENTIFICATION LABEL TO IDENTIFY RECEPTACLES PROTECTED BY UPSTREAM GFI PROTECTION.LABEL CONDUCTORS AND CABLE WITH POWER SOURCE AND CIRCUIT NUMBER OR OTHER REQUIRED DESIGNATION. CONTACT ELECTRICAL ENGINEER FOR CONNECTION REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO BID.
