lf this application requires a separate review by any local, State or Federal agency
other than the Town of Vail, the application fee shall be increased by $200.00.
Examples of such review, may include, but are not limited to: Colorado Department of
Highway Access Permits, Army Corps of Engineers 404, etc.
The applicant shall be responsible for paying any publishing fees which are in excess
of 50% of the application fee. lt, at the applicanl's request, any matter is posiponed for
hearing, causing the matter to be re-published, then the entire fee for such re
-publication shall be paid by the applicant.
Applications deemed by the Community Development Department to have significant
design, land use or other issues which may have a significant impact on the
community may require review by consultants other than town staff. Should a
determination be made by the town staff that an outside consultant is needed to review

consultant, it shall estimate the amount of money necessary to pay him or her and this
amount shall be fonryarded to the Town by the applicant at the time he liles hls

III. IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING ALL SVBMISSIONS TO THE DRB:
A. fn addition to meeting submittal. requirements, theapplicant must stake and tape the project site toindicate property Iines, building lines and buildingcorners. All trees to be removed must be taped. AIIsite tapings and staking nust be completed prior to the
DRB site visit. The applicant must ensure that staking
done during the winter is not buried by snow.
B. lhe review process for NEW BUILDINGS normally requirestwo separate meetings of the Design Review Board: aconceptual approval and a final approval . Applicantsshould plan on presenting their development proposal ata minimum of two meetings before obtaining final
approval .
C. Applicants who fail to appear before the Design Review
Board on their scheduled meeting date and who have not
asked in advance that discussion on their item bepostponed, will have their items removed from the DRBdocket untiL such time as the iten has beenrepublished.
D. The following itens may, at the discretion of thezoning administrator, be approved by the CommunityDevelopment Department staff (i.e. a formal hearingbefore the DRB may not be required):
a. Windows, skylights and simitar exterior changeswhich do not alter the existing plane of thebuilding; and

ner, we will be doing an expanded excavation similar to the excavation
necessary for our future park'ing structure for the "Vail Professional
Bui 1ding".
t.le feel this phase could be completed by 0ctober'l7th, 1983. At that
time we will have our foundation and structural prints finished and
would intend to apply for our complete Building Permit for the "Vail
Professional Building". Due to our concerns with lrlinter conditions,
we would pay for the permit at that time, though the approva'l process
would take additional time.
We agree that if we start construction prior to Building Department
approvals that any conditions or changes the Building Department would
request in the building plans will be our responsibility to rectify,
to come into compliance with our approved set of plans.
l,le also agree that if for any reason we are forced to stop work on the
project once we have begun demolition and cannot recommence prior to
JuIy l, .l984, we will return the site to its original state excluding
the Texaco Bu'ilding and the retaining walls or fence the property in a

PUBLIC WORKS PERMIT PROCESS
How it relates to Building permits:
1) Fill out our check list provided with a buildino permit aoolication.lf yes was answered to any of the above questions. ttren a "Public Way" is
required. You can pick up an application at either Gommunig Development,
located at 75 S. Frontage Road or Public Works, located at 1309 Vail Villey Drive.
2l Notice sign offs for utility companies. All utilities must fietd verify (locate)
respective utilities prior to signing application. Some utility companies iequire uf
to a 48 hour notice to schedule a locate.
3) A construction tratfic controUstaging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet
of paper.An approved site plan may also be used. this ptan will show locations
of all traffic control devices(signs, @nes, etc..) and the work zone, (area of
Construction, Staging, etc..). This plan willexpire on Oct. 1Sth. and will'need to
be resubmitted for approval through the winter.
4l Sketch of work being performed must be submitted indicating dimensions (length,
width & depth. of work). This may be drawn on the traffic conbol ptan oi a Eite
plan for the job.
5) Submit completed application to the Public Works's office for review. lf required,
locates will be scheduled for the Town of Vail Electricians and lrrigation crew. The
locates take place in the morning but, may reguire up to 49 houis to perform.
6) The Public Wok's Construction Inspector will revievv the application and approve
or disapprove the permit. You will be contacted as to the siatus and any thli mayneeded' Most permits are released within 48 hours of being received, 6ut pleas6
allow up to one week to process.
7) As soon as the permit is processed, a copy will be faxed to community
Development allowing the "Building Permif'to be released. Please do not confuse
the "Public Way Permit" with a "Building Permit" to do work on a project itself.
