To Whom It May Concern,
I have investigated the activity of the above-mentioned permits. It appears that work had
started prior to obtaining a building permit and the Town of Vail had performed
enforcement action here. This enforcement action has been successfully handled by
obtaining building permits for the work that had occurred there.
I have been invited to the site last week. On 8/30/05 I reviewed the site conditions with
Brian. We addressed an emergency escape and rescue requirement that had been
identified and redJined on the approved permit drawings. The redJine correction stated
that "emergency escape and rescue window is required in the sitting room adjoining the
new bedroom addition or % of the wall between the two room would have to be
removed". Most of the finish work on that wall was completed and Brian wondered if
there was another alternative that could be made to the project that would relieve the
requirement of the emergency escape and rescue window installation. Listed below is an
alternate that we have agreed to employ here.
1) Add an additional smoke detector in the sitting room. This detector shall be
wired/interconnected to the smoke detector in the bedroom and the detector
located in the hall providing access to the sitting room and bedroom.
2) Maintain an uncased opening into the sitting room. This access shall be
maintained open to the hallway and shall not have a door added to the opening.
3) No furniture in the sitting room shall be allowed for sleeping purposes. Beds,
fold-out sofa sleepers, etc. are prohibited in this space.
Any deviation from the agreement shall be grounds to revoke occupancy approval.

required. You can pick up an application at either community Development,
located at 75 S. Frontage Road or Public Works, located at 1309 Vail Valley Drive.

A construction traffic control/staging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet
of paper.An approved site plan may also be used. This plan will show locations
of all traffic control devices(signs, cones, etc..) and the work zone, (area of
construction, staging, etc..). This plan will expire on oct. 1sth. and will need to
be resubmitted for approval through the winter.
sketch of work being performed must be submitted indicating dimensions (length,
width & depth of work). This may be drawn on the traffic control plan or a site
plan for the job.
submit completed application to the Public works's office for review. lf required,
locates will be scheduled for the Town of Vail Electricians and lrrigation crew. The
locates take place in the morning but, may require up to 49 hours to perform.
The Public work's construction lnspector will review the application and approve
or disapprove the permit. You will be contacted as to the status and any that may
needed. Most permits are released within 48 hours of being received, but please
allow up to one week to process.
As soon as the permit is processed, a copy will be faxed to Community
Development allowing the "Building Permit" to be released. please do not confuse
the "Public way Permif'with a "Building Permit" to do work on a project itself.
NOTE:
* The.above" process is.for work In a public way only.* Public Way Permlts are valid only until November 15th.* A new Public Way Permit ls required each year if work is not comptete.

Effective June 20, L99I , the Town of VaiI Building Department has
developed the following procedures to ensure that new constructionsites have adeguately established proper drainage from buildingsites along and adjacent t.o Town of Vail roads or streets.
The Town of Vail Public lVorks Department wiLl. be required toinspect and approve drainage adjacent to Town of Vail roads orstreeta and the installation of temporary or permanent culverts at
access points from tbe road or street on to the construction site.
Such approval must be obtained prior to any request for inspectionby the Town of Vail Building Department for footings or temporaryel-ectrical or any other inspection. Pl-ease calf 4'19-2160 torequest an inspection from the Public Works Department. Allow a
minimum of 24 hour notice.
Also, the Town of Vail Public Works Department will be approvingall final drainage and culvert installation with resulting roadpauching as neceJsary. Such approval must be obtained prlor toFj.naI Certificate of Occupancy issuance.
