If this permit requires a Town of Vail Fire Department Approval, Engineer's (Public Works)
review and approval, a Planning Department review or Health Department review, and a
review by the Building Department the estimated time for a total review may take up to
six (6) weeks.
All commercial (large or small) and all multi-family permits will have to follow the above
mentioned maximum requirements. Residential and small projects should take a lesser
amount of time. However, if residential or smaller projects impact the various above
mentioned departments with regard to necessary review, these projects may take up to
six (6) weeks to review and approve.
Every attempt will be made by this department to expedite this permit as soon as
possible.
I, the undersigned, understand the plan check procedure and time frame. I also
understand that if the permit is not picked up by the expiration date, that I must still pay
the plan check fee and that if I fail to do so it may affect future permib that I apply for.

ensure that new construction sites have adequately established proper dralnage
from buildlng sites along and adjacent to Town of Vail roads or streets.
o The Town of Vail Public Works Department will be required to inspect and approve
drainage adjacent to Town of Vail roads or streets and the installation oi temporary
or permanent culvefs at access points from the road or street onto the construction
site. Such approval must be obtained prior to any requests for inspection by the
Town of Vail Building Department for footings, temporary electrical or any other
inspection. Please call Leonard Sandoval at 479-2!9B to request an inspection from
the Public Work Depaftment. Allow a minimum of 24 hour notice.
Also, the Town of Vail Public Works Department will be approving all final drainage
and culvert installation with resulting road patching as necessary. Such approval
must be obtained prior to any Final Ceftificate of Occupancv lssuance.

r All installations of exterior hot tubs or spa's require a DRB approval from planning. This application will
not be accepted without a copy of the DRB approval form attached (if applicable).
s If this permit is for installation of an exterior hot tub or spa on a new elevated platform or deck over
30" above grade, you must also obtain a building permit.
a If this permit is for installation of an elterior hot tub or spa on any existing deck or elevated platform,
a structural engineer must review the existing condition and verify that it will support the added
concentrated load. Please provide a copy of the structural engineers wet stamped letter or drawing
with this application.
o If this is a remodel in a multi-fami[ building with a homeowners association, a letter of permission
from the association is required.
o If this permit is for a commercial space, two (2) sets of stamped drawings are required,

is NO requirement for inspec{ion openings at each joint
witrin the uall. There is no required pitch for horizontal
vent runs. NO OTHER VENTING SYSTEiIS OR

Detailed installation instructions are included with each
vent termination kit and should be used in conjunction
with this lnsta//ers Gurde. The drautirq belovv shoua
vent system components and terminations.
ldentifylng Vent Gomponents
The vent systems installed on this gas fireplace may
include up to eight 90'elbow assemblies. The
relationships of vertical rise to horizontal run in vent
configurations using g0'elbows MUST BE strictly
adhered to. The rise to run relationships are shown
in the venting drawings and tables. Refer to the
diagrams on the next several pages.

STRUCTURAL WOOD FRAMING:
a. All 2" nominal lumber shall be Hem Fir or Southern Pine #2 or better,
pressure treated in accordance with the treating and drying
requirements of the American Wood Preservers Bureau (AWPB-FDN)
Standards.
b. Required preservative salt retention is O.60 pounds per cubic foot of
wood.
c. Alternatively, 2,, nominal lumber may be untreated california
Redwood #2 or better.
d. Edges of lumber cut after treatment must be field treated with the
same preservative used in the original treatment. Cuts that occur 8"
or more above grade need not be field treated'
e. Fasteners used to connect treated lumber and plywood members
must be corrosion resistant.
f. Built-up beams consisting of multiple 2x members shall be nailed
together with two rows of 16d nails spaced at 12" on center, or with
two rows of l12" diameter thru-bolts spaced at24" on center'
s. Except as noted otherwise, minimum nailing shall be provided as
specified in the "Nailing Schedule" on the drawings (UBC Table 23-ll-
B_1).
h. Bolts used for wood framing connections shall be installed with
standard washers and nuts.
i. Unless noted otherwise, steel connectOrs such aS those manufactured
by the Simpson company shall be used to join rafters, joists or beams
to other beams at flush-framed conditions. use all specified nails.
Connector conditions not otherwise noted shall utilize Type U or Type
HU hangers of a size specifically designed for the member supported,
as shown in the manufacturer's published tables. Contact structural
engineer for details as required.

GENERAL REOUIREMENTS:
a. Structural erection and bracing: The structural drawings illustrate the
completed structure with all elements in their final positions, properly
supported and braced. The contractor, in the proper sequence, shall
provide shoring and bracing as may be required during construction to
achieve the final completed structure. Contact structural engineer for
consultation (not in contract) as required.
b. Existing structures: lf construction adjoins an existing structure,
contractor shall be responsible for verifying dimensions, elevations,
framing, foundation and anything else that may affect the work shown
on the drawings. Underpinning, shoring and bracing of existing
structures shall be the responsibility of the contractor.
c. Dimensions: Check all dimensions against architectural drawings prior
to construction. Do not scale drawings.
d. Construction practices: General contractor is responsible for means,
methods, techniques, Seguences and procedures for construction Of
this project. Notify structural engineer of omissions or conflicts
between the working drawings and existing conditions. Coordinate
requirements for mechanical/electrical/plumbing penetrations through
structural elements with structural engineer. Jobsite safety is the sole
responsibility of the contractor. All methods used for construction
shall be in accordance with the latest edition of the uBc.
e. lt is the responsibility of the contractor to contact the structural
engineer at the appropriate time to perform site observations visits.
Observation visits to the iobsite by the engineer are for determination
of general conformance with the construction documents and shall not
be construed as insPection.
f. Though every effort is made to provide a complete and clear set of
construction documents, discrepancies or omissions may occur.
Release of these drawings anticipates cooperation and continued
communication between the contractor, architect and engineer to
provide the best possible structure. These drawings have been
prepared for the use of a qualified contractor experienced in the
construction techniques and systems depicted.
