BUILDING PERMIT ISSUANCE TIME FRAME
If this permit requires a Town of Vail Fire Depaftment Approval, Engineer's (Public Works)
review and approval, a Planning Depaftment review or Health Department review, and a
review by the Building Department, the estimated time for a total review will take as long
as three (3) weeks.
All commercial (large or small) and all multi-family permits will have to follow the above
mentioned maximum requirements. Residential and small projects should take a lesser

How it relates to Building Permits:
Fill out the atbched check list with the Buildinq Permit Apolication,
If yes was answered to any of the questions hen a 'Public Way" permit is required. You
can pick up an application at either Community Development locabd at 75 South Fronbge
Road or Public.Works, locaEd at 1309 Elkhorn Drive.
Notice sign-offs for utility companies. ALL utilities must field veriff (locab) .respective
utjlities prior to signing application. Some utility companies require up bc 48 hours notice to
schedule a locab.
A construction traffic control/staging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet of paper,
An approved site plan may also be used. This plan will show locations of all faffic control
devices (signs, cones, etc.) and the work zone, (area of construction, sbging, etc.). This
plan will expire on November 1st and will need to be resubmitted for consideration for
approval trrough he winter. Be aware that your resubmission for winber may be denied
depending on the location of construction.
Sketrh of work being peformed must be submitEd indicaUng dimensions (length, width
and deptr of work). This may be drawn on the traffic contol plan or a site plan for the job.
Submit complebed application to the Public Work's office for review. If required, locaEs will
be scheduled for the Town of Vail elecfficia ns and irrigation crew. The locates bke place in
the moming, but may require up tr 48 hours to perform.
The Public Work's Construction Inspector will review the application and approve or deny
the permiL You will be contacted as to the stattrs and any requirements drat may be
needed. Most permib are released witrin 48 hours of being received, but please allow up
to one (1) week to process.
As soon as the permit is approved, he Building DeparEnent will be notified, allowing the
"Building Permit" to be released. Please do not confuse the'Public Way Permit" with a
"Building Permit".
F NOTE: The above process is for rrvork in a public way ONLY. Public Way
Permits are valid only until November 15th. A new Public Way Permit is required
each year if rnork is not complete. Re-application each November l5th does not
