Time Requirements
The Design Review Board meets on the lst and 3rd Wednesdays of each month. A complete application
form and all accompanying material must be accepted by the Community Development Department prior
to application deadlines. A schedule of DRB meeUngs and associated application deadlines may be found
on the World Wide Web at http://ci.vail.co.us/commdev/olanning/drb/meetings/default.htm
Review Criteria
The proposal will be reviewed for compliance with the Design Guidelines as set fofth in Title 12 (Zoning
Regulations) and Title 14 (Development Standards) of the Town of Vail Municipal Code.
Desiqn Review Board MeeUnq Reouirements
For new construction and additions, the applicant must stake and tape the project site to indicate
property lines, proposed buildings and building corners. All trees to be removed must be taped. The
applicant must ensure that staking done during the winter is not buried by snow. All site tapings and
staking must be completed prior to the day of the DRB meeting.
The applicant, or their representative, shall be present at the Design Review Board Hearing. Applicants
who fail to appear before the Design Review Board on their scheduled meeting date and who have not
asked in advance that discussion on their item be postponed, will have their items removed from the DRB
agenda until such time as the item has been republished.
If the DRB approves the application with conditions or modifications, all conditions of approval must be
resolved prior to the issuance of a building permit.

Inc. for the Vail Sports to proceed with their exterior alterations and new signage
as shown on the attached drawings.
This alteration shall include the removal of the existing green awning, the
installation a new timber fascia onto the existing building the length on their store,
the creation of a heavy timber gable roof over their entrance that is to be no
higher than the existing awning that is being removed, and a new double sided

SIGITI CATEGORIES:

SUGGESTIONS:
1. Copies of the Sign Code are available from the Department of Community Development. You may
wish to check the Code to verifi/ the type and size of sign you are allowed.
2. Be specific. Vagueness in the description of design, size, construction may delay the approval of
your sign.
3, Measure the frontage of your business to determine the size (area) of the sign you are allowed.
4. Lighting for awnings may spotlight only the sign lettering on the awning. Lighting may not shine
into pedestrian or vehicular ways,
5. All individual business signs will be reviewed by the Department of Community Development. New
sign programs or amendments to sign programs will be reviewed by the Design Review Board.

Time Reouirements
The Design Review Board meets on the lst and 3rd Wednesdays of each month, A complete application
form and all accompanying material must be accepted by the Community Development Department prior
to application deadlines. A schedule of DRB meetings and associated application deadlines may be found
on the World Wide Web at http://ci.vail.co.us/commdev/planning/drb/meetinqs/default.htm
Review Criteria
The proposal will be reviewed for compliance with the Design Guidelines as set forth in Title 12 (Zoning
Regulations) and Title 14 (Development Standards) of the Town of Vail Municipal Code.
Desiqn Review Board Meetino Requirements
For new construction and additions, the applicant must stake and tape the project site to indicate
property lines, proposed buildings and building corners. All trees to be removed must be taped. The
applicant must ensure that staking done during the winter is not buried by snow. All site tapings and
staking must be completed prior to the day of the DRB meeting.
The applicant, or their representative, shall be present at the Design Review Board Hearing, Applicants
who fail to appear before the Design Review Board on their scheduled meeting date and who have not
asked in advance that discussion on their item be postponed, will have their items removed from the DRB
agenda until such time as the item has been republished.
If the DRB approves the application with conditions or modifications, all conditions of approval must be
resolved prior to the issuance of a building permit.
Staff Aporoval
The Administrator (a member of the planning staff) may review and approve Design Review applications,
approve with certain modifications, deny the application, or refer the application to the Design Review
Board for a decision. All staff approvals are reviewed by the Design Review Board and any staff decision
is subject to final approval by the DRB.

Dear Design Reviev Board,
Colorado fnsight vould like to rnake improvements to their store located
in the Vail- 21 building in Lionshead.
I,le would like to paint the now rus!-col-ored facade of the store, tea1.
(Erclosed is a col-or card.) This trim r,rould follow frorn the norLh side of the
building, around the east or front side of Lhe buil-ding and continue around to
the south side, finishi.ng up on the colums located on the west side.
fnstead of using the present wooden sign at the front entrance, we would
like to paint the present Colorado fnsigbt l.ogo on the front facade of the
store with white lettering. (See letter head for the 1ogo.) This front sign-
age would not exceed eight square feet. The present wooden sign (two feet, ten
inches by three feet) would be painted teal w:ith white lettering and be used
over the west side entrance.
We would also like to paint the textured cinder block in the area of the
rental department located in the basement 1evel of the building, white.
We feel these irnprovements w-il1 enhance the look of the Vail 2l- building
as well as provide Colorado Insight rrrith a nore prominent, atLractive, and
cleaner facade. We hope that the board l.ikes our ideas and upon their approval-
we will begin this fa1l.
