DRB APPLICATION
*****THIS APPLICATION t.llLL NOT BE ACCEPTED UNTIL ALL INFORMATION IS SUBMIT;ED*****
I. PRE-APPLICATION MEETING:
A pre-application meeting with a planning staff member is strongly suggested to
determine if any additional information is needed. No appiication will be accepted
unless it is complete (must include all items required by the zoning administrator). It is the applicant's responsibility to make an appointment with the staff to find
out about additional submittal requirements. Please note that a C0MPLETE applica-
tion will streamline the approval process for your project by decreasing the numberof conditions of approval that the DRB may stipulate. ALL conditions of approval must
be resolved before a bu'i lding permit is issued.

t,
I have reviewed your request of February 1, 19g5 to use the heli:__pad on state right-of-way west of the Vail post 0ffice for other tFffi-
emergency purposes. I regret that I am unable to grant this request inview of possible liabilities which might incur to ine state of iolorado.
The Town.may, however, cont'i nue to use this facility for emergency useonly' under the terms of the November 30, l98l lettbr from the Department ,of Highways
_,-.-. - ',
The selected guide signs (proposed in the centennial report for thesouth Frontage Road) that the Department approved last fall should beordered by the Town of vail from the Department of Highways sign shop.
The order should be addressed to:
Mr. Louis J. LanerTraffic Sign Shop Foreman
Colorado Department of Highways
2000 South Holty Street
Denver, C0 80222
Highway maintenance personnel will be available to install these signs.
As discussed with you recently by Mr. Bragdon, your signs for skierparking should,be replaced wjth whiie on green iigns i'n ordei to conformwith the Manua'l on uniform Traffic controi Devicei. The legend currentlyin use is acceptable, however you might consider incorporating stinaaia "
sign D4 as shown in the MUTCD. Mr. Bragdon will be available-to assistyou with design of new signs for use neit year. If the signs currently inuse were purchased from the Department of Highway's sign shop, and approvedas black-on.orange signs by the Department, we witt pay for ine new iignsto rectify the error. Please advjse me on this.
By copy of this letter, Department personnel are directed to 1ay out

. Your request to utilize a portion of State riqht-of-way currently
used by the Town for a winter snow dump for free public parking in the
summer is hereby approved. This parking lot could alleviate some of thesafety problems caused by parallel parking along the south Frontage Roadduring ball games.
The Town's funding request for traffic signals at the I-70 Exit 176Four-way stop in accordance with the centennial-Engineering study is
acknow'l edged. This request will be considered in the formilation of thenext 5-Year Plan.
