GENERAL CONSTRUCTION NOTES
1. See Details sheets for additional details and notes.
2. All 90' vertical bends in conduit shall have a 3' minimum radius. All 90' horizontal conduit bends shall
have an 5' minimum radius.
3. All trenches shall be back filled and compacted to 95% standard proctor. Backfill material shall be soil
free of top soil, organic material, frozen material and all non- structural material.
4. When multi le conduits are placed in the some trench, Contractor to provide minimum 12" separation
between CATV7Telephone conduits and Electric conduits. Refer to detail sheets.
5. Select fill denotes native material with no rocks larger than 2" in diameter and approved by the Engineer.
If no select fill exists on site, Contractor to use 3/4" road base.
6. Provide 2' of select back fill above conduits and lay warning tape as required by the Utility Companies.
7. Provide 10' clear area for electric transformer and switch gear doors.
8. It is the Contractors responsibility to coordinate construction with all Shallow Utility Companies and to
have all work done by the Contractor approved and accepted by each respective Shallow Utility Company.
9. The Contractor shall install all conduits, vaults, pads, pull boxes and pull strings. The gas lines,
transformers, switch gears and all other to be installed by the respective Utility Company.
10. The Contractor shall install conduits for the electric, phone and cable lines as shown on the plans.
11. All work shall comply to the individual Shallow Utility Companies rules and regulations.
12. The Contractor shall verify location and elevation of all existing utilities, culverts and underdrains prior to
construction.
13. The Contractor shall repair and /or replace existing underdrains disturbed by construction to the
satisfaction of the Engineer.
14. The Contractor shall install pull strings in all conduits with the exception of joint trench service stubs.
15. It is the Contractor's responsibility to field locate all utilities, irrigation lines, electrical lines, light poles,
etc. on site prior to construction.
16. The Contractor is warned that conflicts with existing utility services may exist. Prior to beginning any
construction, the Contractor shall contact all appropriate utility companies for line locations. He shall then
locate all utilities (including depth). Any conflicts with the proposed construction shall be brought to the
attention of the Engineer so that minor line or grade changes can be made to eliminate any conflicts with
these existing utilities. All existing utilities shall be protected from damage by the Contractor at no expense
to the Owner.
17. Contractor shall obtain at his expense all permits and inspections which are necessary to perform the
proposed work
18. All construction shall conform to municipal or district standards and specifications and be subject to
construction observation by their representatives. Copies of municipal and district standards must be obtained
by the Contractor.
19. Contractor shall not scale drawings for construction purposes. Any missing dimensions or discrepancies in
plans, field staking, or physical features shall be brought to the attention of the Engineer. If Contractor
proceeds with the work without notifying the Engineer, he does so at his own risk.
20. Observations of the work in progress and on site visits are not to be construed as a guarantee or
warranty by the Engineer of the Contractor's contractual responsibilities.
21. The Owner will provide certain construction staking. The Contractor is advised that this may not be all
of the stakes he will need. Additional staking will be at the Contractor's expense.
22. Safety is the responsibility of the Contractor. The Engineer is not responsible for safety in, on, or about
the project site, nor for compliance by the appropriate party with any regulations relating hereto.
23. The Contractor shall provide all lights, signs, barricades, flagmen, or other devices necessary to provide
for public safety in accordance with the current Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices or as required by
the Town of Vail. The Contractor is to provide a Traffic Control Plan to the Town of Vail and receive approval
of the plan prior to the commencement of any construction within the road right -of -way.
24. Contractor is to provide dewatering for groundwater encountered during excavation and trenching as
required.
25. The General Contractor is to keep a copy of the construction activity plan at the site at all times.
26. Contractor to protect all trees that are to be preserved during construction operations.
27. Contractor shall restore and /or replace all disturbed landscaping and sod to a condition
equal to or better than the pre- construction state and to the satisfaction of the owner.
28. Contractor to install, inspect and maintain sediment control measure to ensure that sediment -laden
water does not leave the site. Certain sediment control details have been shown on the detail sheet.
These details may not be all the measures necessary to provide adequate sediment and erosion control.

is based were made in accordance with "Minimum Standard Detail Requirements
for ALTA /ACSM Land Title Surveys," jointly established and adopted by ALTA,
ACSM and NSPS in 1999, and includes Items 3, 4, 5, 6, 7(a), 7(1), 8, 9, 10, 11(a),
and 11(b) of Table A thereof.
Pursuant to the Accuracy Standards as adopted by ALTA, NSPS, and ACSM
