Per our conversation the other day in regards to theexisting copper roof, please be advised that Brandess-
Cadmus Real Estate. Inc. has worked out an equitable sol-u-tion wiLh Horst Krebs wherein Brand.ess-Cadmus Real Estate,Inc. will- be contracting with a copper roofer directly.It. is our understanding that this roofer will be working
under the existing building permit.
The work is scheduled to begin June 27th and should befinished by JuIy Ist. Brandess-Cadmus Real Estate, Inc.
agrees to be responsible for the cost of the new copperroof.
Brandess-Cadmus Real Estate, Inc, would hope that this
agreement would be instrumental in releasing palrunent
from Gata Mora to Horst Krebs so that Horst in returnwill be able to lift the lien from the encumbered spaces.

The following was observed:
I. The roof bean connecEion at lhe cantilever need to be
detailed. They wlll notcb the beams similar to second
floor level and provlde plates as detalled for that.

On Lhe east slde aE the roof, the 6-3/ 4 x 9" glu-lan
bearus parallellng the 2 x l0rs wlll be located in the
same p1ane. A connectlon wlll be detailed for thls.
The bean to beam connecElon at F6 had t.,to l/2"b bolts.
At first this appeared noE to be adequale, bu! upon
closer observatlon, the 2 x l0rs frarnlng into the side
of rhls g1u-1am, ln facr, frarned lnco a 2 x l0 on the
Eop, and Ehe 2 x 10 floor Jolst beared onto the top of
the glu-lam. This w111 then give Ehe connec|ion
adequaEe capacl Ey.
The p11'vood on Ehe south 61de of the cantilevered beams
needs Eo extend down. toEa?rtached on Eo the cantllevered
beams.
It appears none of the lateral connections Eo Ehe
masonry wal-ls have been nade. I w111 send a detall
through on the connection along the south slde whlch
will involve two through-bolts into rhe masonry and two
through-bolts lnto the glu-lam with a 3/8" plate
connecting rhe bo1t6. Thls rril1 occur every four feet.
The oEher locations will have the joists through-bolted
at 2t6 on center.

As a follow-up to my memo to Casino Building o\^rners and tenanfs
daced August LZ. L982, I vould l1ke to inform you of several
recent occurances. Due to vari.ous unpreeedented circumstances
which have directly affected our non-resident developers, we
have been forced to suspend Caslno Bullding constructj.on until
a construction loan has been obEalned and closed. I.le are
currently negotlatlng wlth several flnancial lnstltutlons in
Denver and are optlmlstlc that a loan can be closed by the
mlddle of September. In the lnEerln, ne are pursuing
varj-ous alternative proposals which would aLlow us to resume
constructlon well ln advance of our Earget date in Septenber.
In addition, I have been asked to update the local medias on
our development progress and intentions. In furtherance of

have alerted the concractor to your request. (See attached tele-
phone dialog dated 22 Jtne 1982;)
Attached is a photocopy of a letter from the Publ-ic Serviee Companyof Colorado dated June 30, 1982, That letter confirms my understand-lng of the gas 1lne sl"tuation i.e.--the gas main in Wal1 Screet is noLserviceable, or ls non-existant, A subsequent tel-ephone conversaLlonwlth cary Ha11 on J:uTy 2, further cl-arlf led and enforced my understand-ing of the situatlon:
a. The gas maln that was in Gore Creek Drlve is stlll there.b, The gas 1lne that went from the gas main to the meters on the North
slde of the bulldlng ls stl1L there.c. The use of the gas line nentloned jrr (b) above could be used, wlthlnstallatLon of a propeirly. located gas meter (co accorn:nodate code

Dear Mr. Booker:
To confirm our dj"scussion of June 29, 1982, the point of gas servi-ceto the above referenced project has been eliminated through remodeling.
To provide gas service in the future, a new point of service will needto be established, In addition, gas main does not presently existwithin wall street. The preferred point of access would be from BridgeSlreet to a new polnt of servlce at the Sllversmiths.
In order to provide for servlce routing, a minlmum 3 inch sleeve should
be installed from Bridge Street to the wall of the Silversmiths.

The following was observed:
Reviewed the progress of construction with the contractor
and Roger. The contractor requested that the masonry wallat grld llne E-4 be changed so that it is non-bearing.
Also, requested that possibly the elevator walls be
changed from B" concrete to B" block, this may be done if he
reinforces the masonry walls with No.4's at 16 vertical, no
horjzontal relnforcement would be requlred. A1so, with the
changing of the masonry to a non-bearlng wal1, the existlng
footing maybe chlpped off to cneate a flushed wall ln the
e1 evator pi t.
Reviewed two existing 6 3/4 x 19 1/2" g1u lams, these appearto be long enough to replace the two 6 3/4 x 18" glu lams ongrid line #2 at the third floor. The grade of glu lam needsto be verified to be 22F V3 DFPF. If there's sufficlent
room, the 91 u lams should be left as 19" deep g1u lams. Ifthis does not work however, the 11/2" maybe removed off of
the botton of the glu lam, from grid llne F to grid line D,
Reviewed the masonry wall that js to be construction on D,
between grld line 8 and 9. An B" wall wlll cause problemi
for the contractor, and he agreed that he would make it a 6"wall and grout it solid. Also, discussed the roof of thebuilding. The contractor lndicated that it probably would
be cheaper for hlm to remove the entlre roof and come backin and rebulld 1t. Thls wlll be very acceptable to us, and
we w1l1 begin to redesign the roof to take advantage of th.lssltuation, and issue a new framing alternate p1an.

Further, Arpenhaus construction, rnc.,was instructed to immediately remove themser-ves and alr itemsbelonginq to them from the construction site.
Pursuant to this request Alpenhaus construction, rnc., is removingall items beronging to them from the construction site and is nolonqer continuing to perform any re spons ibi l ities as qenerarcontractor.

As personally researched, and subeequent,ly conflrned by sEeve patterson,Vail Bulldlng Inspector, these doors must have ttpanJ"c,' Eyp" hardware.
AJ-so, the use of a one-way deadbolt (key outslde, ttrumutuin lnslde) leprohlblted. Note that section 3303 (b) al1ows these doors to 6$ringinto the retalL space slnce the oceupant load trs Less than 50.

Per our conversation the other day in regards to theexisting copper roof, please be advised that Brandess-
Cadmus Real Estate, Inc. has worked out an equitable solu-tion with Horst Krebs wherein Brandess-Cadmus Real Estate,Inc. will be contracting with a copper roofer directly.It is our understanding that this roofer will be working
under the existing building permit.
The work is scheduled to begin June 27th and should befinished by JuIy lst. Brandess-Cadmus Real Estate, Inc.
aglrees to be responsible for the cost of the new copperroof.
Brandess-Cadmus Real Estate, Inc, would hope that this
agreement would be instrumental in releasing palzment
