Dear Mr. Ruther:
As requested, Ralph Mock and I met with you, Rick Pylman and Glenn Palmer to discuss
various issues of the rockfall mitigation alternatives. A geotechnical selection matrix was
provided to you in a report dated February 26, 2010, Job No. 109 310C.
Option 1 rockfall fence at 90% exceedence probability generally appears to be preferred
by the Town. There are significant grading constraints locating the fence off of Lions
Ridge Loop and you have proposed to evaluate the feasibility of a fence alignment
somewhere in the existing road platform with at least one lane for bus traffic (added
option 5). Rick Pylman and Glenn Palmer will develop with you a proposed fence
alignment and elevation so that we can run a new CRSP analysis at our 3 existing
profiles. The analysis will determine the impact energy and required height at the
proposed fence alignment. The additional cost of the analysis and follow up reviews is
expected to not exceed $3,000.
Please acknowledge your acceptance of these additional requested services and cost.
If you have any questions or need further assistance, please call our office.
Sincerely,
HEPWORTH — PA
