Box 1624 Avon, Colorado 81620 Dear Ryan, As a follow-up to the recent modifications made to the Marshall Residence, dated January 2, 2013, I offer the following explanations. Should you have further questions, don’t hesitate to contact me at your convenience. Sheet L2, Tree Survey Three changes have been made: 1. Tree number 10 was previously scheduled to remain. However, construction access around the house and the proximity of the boulder wall which is to preserve it is more restrictive than originally anticipated. The lower branches of the tree will conflict with the construction of the wall and should be limbed. If construction proves to be too restrictive for the tree’s overall health, it should be removed. In either case, the Town will be kept apprised of its construction and our arborist will be available to assist and provide recommendations. 2. Tree number 16 was previously scheduled to remain. The hot tub layout closer to the base of this tree than anticipated. We looked into moving the hot tub to save it, but its location is right and the tree should be removed. 3. Tree number 47-49 was scheduled to remain however its health has declined recently and should be removed. This recommendation comes from our arborist. Sheet L3, Site Layout and Grading Plan There’s one change: 1. There’s an existing boulder wall in the area to the north, around the proposed hot tub. The modification consists of extending that wall to the wall of the hot tub to make up the grade between the pathway and the native area. Sheet L4, Planting Plan Two changes were made to this plan: 1. The planting changed in response to the boulder modification, above: a small strip of perennial planting has been replaced by a sod area to the west of the hot tub; 2. A 22’ Spruce tree replaces the Engleman Spruce in front. Sheet L5, Details 1. A slightly modified detail of a stone step within the walk from the parking area to the lower fire pit area replaces a detail which doesn’t include steps. Due to the grade change in this area, steps will be required.
