The Town of Vail Building Depaftment has developed the following procedures to ensure that new construction
sites have adequately esbblished proper drainage from building sites along and adjacent to Town of Vail roads or
streets.
The Town of Vail Public Works Departnent will be required to inspect and approve drainage adjacent to Town of
Vail roads or streeE and the installation of temporary or permanent culverE at access points from the road or
steet onto the construction site. Such approval must be obtained prior to any requests for inspection by the
Town of Vail Building Departnent for footings, temporary electical or any other inspection. please call Leonard
Sandoval at970-479-2198 to request an inspection from the Public Works Departmenl Allow minimu m of 24
hour notice.
Also, the Town of Vail Public Works Department will be approving all final drainage and culveft installation w1h
resulting road patching as necessary. Such approval must be obtained prior to any Final Ceftificate of Occupanry
issuance.

1309 Elkhorn Drive.

) A consfuction tralfic control/sqging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet of paper. An approved site plan
may also be used. This plan will show locations of all traffic control devices (signs, cones, etc.) and the work
zone, (area of consffuction, sta$ing, etc.). This plan will expire on November 1$ and will need to be resubmitted
for consideration for approval through the winter. Be aware that your resubmission for winter may be denied
depending on the location of cqnstruction.
) Skekh of work being performed must be submitted indicating dimensions (length, width and depth of work).
This may be drawn on the traffic control plan or a site plan for the job.
) Submit completed application tp the Public Works office for review. If required, locates will be scheduled for the
Town of Vail elecfficians and infjgation crew. The locates take place in the moming, but may require up to 48
hours to peform.
D The Public Work Constuction lnspector will review the application and approve or deny the permit. You will be
contacted as to the status and pny requiremenb that may be needed. Most permib are released r18 hours of
being received, but please allow up to one (1) weekto process.
) As soon as the permit is approied, the Building Department will be notjfied, allowing the "Building Permif to be
released. Please do not confuse the "Public Way Permit" with the "Building Permit".
November 15-. A new Public Way Permit is required each year if work is not mmplete. Re-
application each November 15tn does not mean an automatic renewal.
