ANY e:cterior work. This inctudes and is not limited to r€moyal and replacement of driyeway snow
meft systems. Please contact the Development Review Coordinator at 479-2128 for additional

o The Town of Vail has adopted the 2003 International Mechanical Code and the 2003 International
Fuel Gas Code.
r All new construction witfiin the Town of Vail is considered to be of unusually tight onstruction,
thus all combustion air is rcquired to be drawn from outside the structure for medranical
eguipment.
Town of Vail Fireolace Ordinance
In September of 1991, the Vail Town Council adopted an ordinance which restricts te onstruction and
use of open hearth fireplaces within municipal boundaries. Since that time the ordinance has
undergone numetous changes and revisions, striving for compromise, yet effectiveness in addressing
the air quality issue. Thercforc the following criteria has been adopted:
. Construction of open hearth wood burning ftreplaces is no longer permitted within Town of Vail
municipal bounflaries.
Dwellino Units - Each new dwelling unit may contain:
One (1) EPA Phase II certifted solid fuel burning dodce and no morc than two (2) gas appli,ances

OR
Two (2) gas log ftreplaces and no more than two (2) gas appliance fireplaces (B benQ.
Restricted Dwellino Units - Each new restriated diuelling unit may aontain: " '
One (1) gas log fireplace and not more than ohe (1) gas appliance fireplace,
Accommodation Units - Each new accommodation unit may contain:
One (1) gas log fireplace or one (1) gas appliance firePlace.

, TOWT{ OF VAIL ELECTRICAL PERMIT GUIDEUNES
All installations of elterior hot tubs or spa's require a DRB approval from planning. This application will
not be accepted without a copy of the DRB approval form attached (if applicable).
If this permit is for installation of an exterior hot tub or spa on a new elevated platform or deck over
30" above grade, you must also obtain a building permit.
If this permit is for installation of an e)derior hot tub or spa on any existing deck or elevated platform,
a structural engineer must review the existing condition and veriry that it will suppoft the added
concentrated load. Please provide a copy of the structural engineers wet stamped letter or drawing
with this application.
If this is a remodel in a multi-family builping with a homeowners association, a letter of permission
from the association is required.
If this permit is for a commercial space, two (2) sets of stamped drawings are required. Electrical
on*line and panel schedules are required if load is added or distribution is aftered.
