When is asbestos testinq required? $ building projects disturbing more than these threshold levels of building materials require asbestos testing: One- and Two-Family Dwellings: 30 square feet All Others: 160 square feet Asbestos testing results must be provided with your application for a building permit. Tests which identify POSITIVE results at more than 1% require abatement by a State.certified and Vail-registered abatement contractor. An asbestos abatement permit must be approved, and the clearance letter must be submifted to the Town of Vail before the buiding permit will be issued.
