o The Town of Vail has adopted the 2(xl3 Inbrnational Mechanical Code and the 2OO3 IntemaHonal
Fuel Gas Code.
r All new construction within the Town of Vail is considercd to be of unusually tight onstruction,
thus all ombustion air is required to be drawn'from outside the structurc for mechanical
eguipment
Town of Vail Fireolace Ordinance
In September of 1991, the Vail Town Council adopted an oldinance which restr'lcts te oonsEucton and
use of open heailh fireplaces within municipal boundaries. Since that time the ordinbnce has
undergone numemus changes and reyisions, striving for omprcmise, yet effectiveness in addrcssing
the air quality issue. Therefiorc t{re following criteria has been adopGed:
r Consbuction of open hearth wood burning fireplaces is no longer permitted within Town of Vail
municipal boundaries.
o PUte|litrg-lllllE - Each new dwelling unit may contain:
One (1) EPA Phase II cefifted solid fuel burning dwie and no more t{ran tro (2) gas applianes
(B vent)
OR
ftto (2) gas log fircplaces and no morc than two (2) gas appliance fireplaoes (B bent).
r @ - Each nbw restricted dwelling unit may ontain:
One (1) gas log fireplace and not morc tfian ohe (1) gas appliance fireplace.
o Accommodatiod Units - Each new aooommodation unit may contain:
One (f) gas log fircplaae or one (1) gas appliance fireplace.
o ff two or morc separate dwelling units or accommodation units arc combined to form one latger
unit, the oombined unit may retain one woodburning fircplace (if one already exists) and no morc
than 2 gas appliane fireplaes, or nay conveft up to two existing fireplaes b gas.
o If during the oourse of a rcmodel an existlng woodburning fircplace is altercd or moved, the unit
must then comply with all provisions of the ordinance. That is, the fireplace must be convettd b
natural gas or rFplaced by an EPA Phase II certified unit"

Amendment to the 2002 N.E.C. Town of Vail Ordinance 4, Series of 2005

TOWN OF VAIL ELECTRICAL PERMIT GUIDELINES
o All installations of exterior hot tubs or spa's require a DRB approval from planning. This application will
not be accepted without a copy of the DRB approval form attached (if applicable).
o If this permit is for installation of an exterior hot tub or spa on a new elevated platform or deck over
30" above grade, you must also obtain a building permit.
o If this permit is for installation of an elterior hot tub or spa on any existing deck or elevated platform,
a structural engineer must review the existing condition and verify that it will support the added
concentrated load. Please provide a copy of the structural engineers wet stamped letter or drawing
with this application.o If this is a remodel in a multi-family building with a homeowners association, a letter of permission
from the association is required.o If this permit is for a commercial space, two (2) sets of stamped drawings are required. Electrial
one-Iine and panel schedul* are reguired if load is added or distributtbn is altered,
