1) Wall assemblies are proposed for reconstruction. These
assemblies are non-bearing, interior partitions. The Type
of Construction assigned to this building is: I B. This
type of construction requires all wall assemblies to be
on non-combustible construction or use of Fire Retardant
Treated Wood products. Provide wall assembly intended for
this project. 2003 IBC Section 603.1
2) Exhaust fans are proposed to be installed in this
project. The exhaust fans are penetrating a two-hour
fire-resistive assembly. How is the penetration through
this assembly being addressed? At a minimum, a fire
damper is required. 2003 IBC section 712.3.2 No
mechanical information was provided. What type of duct
run is proposed? Show locations of duct, type of duct and
termination of duct.
3) A mechanical permit is required for the proposed
mechanical work. 2003 IMC section 106.1
4) Electrical information not provided with this
application. What does "relevant" code mean? The Town of
Vail is enforcing the 2005 National Electrical Code. An
Electrical permit is required for the proposed work. 2005
NEC Article 80.19
5) Laundry room closet shows a proposed exhaust fan and a
stackable washer and dryer. What is the CFM exhaust total
proposed? Make-up air may be required if 200 CFM or more
is achieved. 2003 IMC section 504.5
6) New smoke detectors are proposed for this project.
This building is equipped with a monitored alarm system.
These smoke detectors are considered "smoke alarms" and
shall be installed a part of an over-all NFPA 72
compliant system. New devices must work with existing
building system and comply with NFPA 72 (2002 ed.) and
Town of Vail Standards.

1. Change out smoke detectors to heat detectors
prior to any work occurring and then change back to smoke
detectors (if appropriate). This work must be done by a
contractor licensed to do alarm work in the Town of
Vail.
2. New devices must work with existing building system
and comply with NFPA 72 (2002 ed.) and Town of Vail
Standards.
3. New smoke detectors shall be placed in the center of
the bedroom unless an architectual feature prohibits it.
This is per Town of Vail Standards.
4. Field inspection, by VFES, shall be required prior to
TCO or CO (whichever is applicable).
