1. The attached survey shows the property lines of the subdivision as well as the amended
building envelope locations. There are no property lines dividing the building lots.
2. The revision to drawing A201 shows a new wall being added to the east wall of new garage
and the GA listing and detail on the sheet.
3. Door swing on door 1/212 has been changed so that door does not swing over the proposed
ramp

6. See ST101 and L-1 through L-3 for these comments. These plans have been delivered directly

International Building Code, 2003 International Residential Code, 2003 International Mechanical
Code, 2003 International Fuel Gas Code, 2003 International Plumbing Code, 2003 International
Energy Conservation Code and 2005 National Electrical Code as modified and adopted by the Town of
Vail.

plan sheets are not accepted.
• Please respond in writing to each comment by marking the attached list or creating a response
letter. Indicate which plan sheet, detail, specification, or calculation shows the requested
information. Please send revisions to the attention of the plans examiner with the building
permit application number noted.
• Please be sure to include on the resubmittal the engineer's or architect's "wet" stamp signature
registration number and date on the cover page of any structural calculations all structural
details and structural sheets of the plans For commercial or multi-famil r~projects all sheets of
the plans must be stamped.

floor plans to show location of the existing property line between dwelling units.
Provide party wall detail. Common walls adjacent to property line shall consist of (2) 1 hour wall
assemblies per the IRC section R302, "Location on Lot" provisions. Provide a UL or gypsum
association listing for the 1 hour wall assemblies. The new garage walls are in question.
Door 1/212 is shown swinging over a step. Doors are not allowed to swing over a step. Please
change the drawings accordingly. (IRC R311.4)

How it relates to Building Permits:
- FII out the attached check list with the Building Permit Application.
If yes was answered to any of the questions then a "Public Way" permit is required. You can pick up an
application at either Community Development, located at 75 South Frontage Road or Public Works, located at
1309 Elkhorn Drive.
- Notice sign-offs for utility companies. ALL utilities must field verify (locate) respective utilities prior to signing
application. Some utility companies require up to 48 hours notice to schedule a locate.
- A construction traffic control/staging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet of paper. An approved site plan
may also be used. This plan will show locations of all traffic control devices (signs, cones, etc.) and the work
zone, (area of construction, staging, etc.). This plan will expire on November 1~ and will need to be resubmitted
for consideration for approval through the winter. Be aware that your resubmission for winter may be denied
depending on the location of construction.
- Sketch of work being performed must be submitted indicating dimensions (length, width and depth of work).
This may be drawn on the traffic control plan or a site plan for the job.
- Submit completed application to the Public Works office for review. If required, locates will be scheduled for the
Town of Vail electricians and irrigation crew. The locates take place in the morning, but may require up to 48
hours to perform.
- The Public Works Construction Inspector will review the application and approve or deny the permit. You will be
contacted as to the status and any requirements that may be needed. Most permits are released 48 hours of
being received, but please allow up to one (1) week to process.
- As soon as the permit is approved, the Building Department will be notified, allowing the "Building Permit" to be
released. Please do not confuse the "Public Way Permit" with the "Building PermiY'.
- NOTE: The above process is for work in a public way ONLY. Public Way Permits are valid only until
November 15"'. Anew Public Way Permit is required each year if work is not complete. Re-
application each November 15"' does not mean an automatic renewal.

CODE 5-2-10: DEPOSITS ON PUBLIC WAYS PROHIBITED
^ Unlawful deposits: Subject to subsection C thereof, it is unlawful for any person to litter, track or deposit, or cause to
be littered, tracked or deposited, sand, gravel, rocks, mud, dirt, snow, ice, or any other debris or material upon any
street, sidewalk, alley or public place, or any portion thereof.
^ Notice; Abatement: The Director of Public Works may notify and require any person who violates or causes another
to violate the provision of subsection A hereof, or who has in the Director's employment a person who violates or
causes another to violate the same, top remove such sand, gravel, rocks, mud, dirt, snow, ice or any other debris or
material within twenty four (24) hours after receipt of said notice by the Director of Public Works. In the event the
person so notified does not comply with the notice within the period of time herein specified, the Director of Public
Works, or other authorized agent, may cause any such sand, gravel, rocks, mud, dirt, snow, ice, debris or any other
material to be removed from any street or alley at the expense of the notified.
^ Summons and Penalty: As an alternative to the notice for removal provided in subsection B above,. any person
who violates or causes another to violate the same, may be issued a summons to appear before the Municipal Court of
the Town for said violations, and upon being found guilty of a violation hereunder be punished as provided in Section
1-4-1 of this code.
^ Notice and Penalty: It is unlawful for any person to fail or refuse to comply with the notice of the Director of Public
Works as provided in subsection B hereof, and any such person shall, in addition to payment of the expense of removal
incurred by the Director of Public Works, as provided in subsection B hereof, upon being found guilty of a violation
hereunder, be punishable as provided in Section 1-4-1 of this Code. (1997 Code: Ordinance 6 (1979).

^ No person shall park any vehicle upon a street or at any other place within this Municipality in such a manner or under
such conditions as to interfere with the free movement of vehicular traffic or proper street or highway maintenance.

^ Whenever any police officer finds a vehicle attended or unattended, standing upon any portion of a street or upon any
place within this Municipality in such a manner as to constitute a violation of any section of this Article, or left

INTRODUCTION:
On April 3rd, 2007 aninspection/survey was conducted and 9 bulk
samples were collected from the:
Residence
1190 A Casolar Del Norte Drive
Vail, CO. 81657
The purpose of the inspection/survey was to locate and sample
suspected Asbestos containing materials that aught be present in the area of
the Residential Unit that is planned for renovation.
The inspection was made, and the samples were collected by John R.
Peterman, an A.H.E.R.A. and State of Colorado Certified Asbestos
Inspector. Great care was taken during the inspection and sampling to be as
accurate as possible. It should be noted that minimal damage was done to
the existing building structures during the inspection so there is no
documentation for unseen conditions or stored items.
All samples were analyzed by DCM Science Lab in Wheatridge, CO.
This laboratory is deemed "Proficient" in the E.P.A.Quality Assurance (QA)
program for the determination of asbestos in bulk materials, and is
accredited by the American Hygiene Association (AHA).
SAMPLING PROTOCOL:
A random sampling scheme was used to sample the suspect materials that
were discovered. If during any future demolition or renovation work,
suspect material is discovered that hasn't been sampled and would be
disturbed, work should be halted until the material has been tested.

RENOVATION AREA DESCRIPTION:
1190 A Casolar Del Norte Drive is planned for selective renovation. The
exterior walls are covered with stucco, and wood siding; the soffit is exposed
wood. The interior walls are covered in sheetrock with a texture applied to
it. The ceilings are covered with sheetrock like the walls, and aspray-on
texture in isolated areas. The floors are covered with carpet, and ceramic
tiles.
CONCLUSIONS & RECOMMENDATIONS:
Laboratory analysis, of the bulk samples, indicate that no Asbestos was
detected in any of the bulk samples. if the spray-on ceiling texture will be
disturbed, additional samples would be required to properly document that
the spray-on texture is NON-ASBESTOS.

I found that the fi~sming hes been done according to the plans gad specifications certified by this office. I did not
find any issues with the penetrations through the members made by the tradesmen. I noted a couple of floor joists
from the origiaat coatn,ctinn that had been excessively notched prior to this ct,-tren remodel. These two joists were
repaired to my satisfaction during my visit to the jobsite.

of the framing and to scrutinize the penctrations through the framing members that have been made by the
subcontractors.
I fo~md that the &sming hes been done according to the plans end specifications certified by this office. I did not
find any issues with the penetrations through the members made by the tradesmen. I noted a couple of floor joists
from the original contn~Minn Char had been excessively notched prior to this torten remodel. These two joists were
repaired to my satisfaction during my visit to the jobsiie.

Dear Mark:
At your request, on August 13 and 17, 2007, we visited ttxe construction site at Lot 6-B,
Casolar Vail, 1190 Casolar Drive, Town o£ Vail, Eagle County, Colorado. The purpose of our
site visits was to observe and test the soil exposed in the foundation excavation fox a proposed
addition
The excavation, consisted of az~ "L" shaped trench excavated on the west side of the
existing residence. The excavation cuts ranged from 4 to 8 feet below the existing grade.
The soil exposed at the bottom of the trench consisted of sandstone bedrock. The soil
exposed in the foundation excavation for the proposed addition is suitable for the designed
maximum allowable soil bearing pressure of 2000 psf. The bottom of the excavation was
compacted. Soft spots were not reported
We recotzunend compliance with the recommendations of the above-named soil report
during the remainder of the construction, specifically with the sections on drainage, grading and
izxigation.
