STRUCTURAL WOOD FRAMING:
o. Except where noted otherwise, all 2" nominal lumber, except studs, shall be Douglas Fir—Lorch
#2 and better, and oll solid timber beams and posts 3" nominol ond wider shall be Douglas
Fir—Larch �2.
b. Built—up beoms consisting of multiple 2x members shall be nailed together with two rows of 16c
nails spaced at 12" on center, or with two rows of 1/2" diameter thru—bolts spaced at 24" on
center.
c. Except as noted otherwise, minimum nailing sholl be provided as specified in the 2003 IBC Toble
2304.9.1.
d. Bolts used for wood froming connections shall be instolled with standard woshers and nuts.
e. Unless noted otherwise, steel connectors such as those manufoctured by the Simpson Company
shall be used to join joists or beams to other beams ot flush—fromed conditions. Use all
specified nails. Connector conditions not otherwise noted shall utilize Type U or Type HU hongers
of o size specifically designed for the member supported, os shown in the manufocturer's
published tables. Contact structurol engineer for details as required.
f. All lumber used in construction shall have o maximum moisture content of 19%.

Structural erection and bracing: The structural drawings illustrate the completed structure with
atl elements in their finol positions, properly supported ond braced. The contractor, in the proper
sequence, shall provide shoring ond bracing as may be required during construction to achieve the
final completed structure. Contact structural engineer for consultation (not in contract) as
required.
Dimensions: Check all dimensions against architectural drawings prior to construction. Do not
scale drawings.
Existing structures: Contractor sholl be responsible for verifying dimensions, elevations,
framing, foundation ond anything else thot moy offect the work shown on the drowings.
Underpinning, shoring and bracing of existing structures shall be the responsibility of the
contractor.
Construction proctices: Generol contractor is responsible for meons, methods, techniques,
sequences and procedures for construction of this project. Notify structurol engineer of omissions
or conflicts between the working drawings and existinq conditions. Coordinote requirements for
mechanical/electricol/plumbing penetrations through structural elements with structural engineer.
Jobsite sofety is the sole responsibility of the contractor. All methods used for construction sholl
be in accordance with the latest editions of the IBC/IRC.
Details not specificolly shown on the drawings sholl be constructed in o monner similar to the
details that are shown for like conditions. These items shall be brought to the attention of the
structural engineer as soon os possible for approvol. Approvol sholl be obtained prior to
If1St011OtlOf1.
It is the responsibility of the contractor to contact the structural engineer ot the appropriate
time to perform site observotion visits. Observotion visits to the jobsite by the engineer ore for
determination of generol conformance with the construction documents ond shall not be construed
as inspection.
Though every effort is made to provide a complete ond clear set of construction documents,
discrepancies or omissions may occur. Release of these drawings anticipotes cooperotion and
continued communication between the contractor, architect and engineer to provide the best
possible structure. These drawings hove been prepared for the use of a qualified controctor
experienced in the construction techniques ond systems depicted.
