BUILDING PERMIT ISSUANCE TIME FMME
If this permit requires a Town of Vail Fire Department Approval, Engineer's (Public Works)
review and approval, a Planning Department review or Health Department review, and a
review by the Building Department the esUmated time for a total review will take as long
as three (3) weeks.
All commercial (large or small) and all multi-family permits will have to follow the above
mentioned maximum requirements. Residential and small pQects should take a lesser
amount of time. However, if residential or smaller projects impact the various above
mentioned depaftments with regard to necessary review, these projecG may take five
(5) weeks to review and approve.
Every attempt will be made by this department to expedite this permit as soon as
oossible.
I, the undersigned, understand the plan check procedure and time frame. I also
understand that if the permit is not picked up by the expiration date, that I must still pay
the plan check fee and that if I fail to do so it may affect future permits that I apply for.

PUBLrc WORKS AND THE PUBLE WAY PERMIT PROCESS
How it relates to Building Permits:
Fill out he attached check list with the Buildinq Permit Aoplication.
If yes was answered to any of the questions hen a 'Public Way" permit is required. You
can pick up an applicatjon at either Community Development, locabd at 75 South Frontage
Road or Public.Work, located at 1309 Elkhorn Drive,
Notice sign-offs for utility companies. ALL uUlities must field verifo (locate) .respective
utilities prior to signing application. Some utility companies require up to 48 hours notice b
schedule a locab.
A construction traffic contro/sbging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet of paper,
An approved site plan may also be used. This plan will show locations of all taffic control
devices (signs, cones, etc.) and the work zone, (area of construction, sbging, etc.). Thls
plan will expire on November 1st and will need to be resubmitted for considemtion for
approval through fie winter. Be aware that your resubmission for winter may be denied
depending on the locatjon of construction.
Sketrh of work being performed must be submitEd indicating dimensions (lengtt, widdt
and depth of work). This may be drawn on the faffic conkol plan or a site plan for the job.
Submitcompleted application b the Public Work's office for review. If required, locabs will
be scheduled for the Town of Vail electricians and irrigation crew. The locates bke place in
the moming, but may require up bo 48 hours to peform,
The Public Work's Construction Inspector will review the application and approve or deny
the permit. You will be conbcted as to the status and any requiremenb that may be
needed. Most permiE are released within 48 houns of being received, but please allow up
to one (1) week b process.
As soon as the permit is approved, t're Building Departnent will be notified, allowing dre
"Building Permit" to be released. Please do not confuse the 'Public Way Permit" with a
"Buildinq Permit",
F NOTE: The above process is for vvork in a public way ONLY. Public Way
Permits are valid only until November 15th. A new Public Way Permit is required
each year if rarork is not complete. Re-application each November 15th does not
mean an automatic renewal, I

DRAINAGE AND CULVERT INSPECTIONS ARE REOUIRED BY PUBLIC WORKS!
Please read and check off each of the items below:
V The Town of Vail Building Department has developed the following procedures to ensure that new
construction sites have adequately established proper drainage from building sites along and
adjacent to Town of Vail roads or streets.
}/ The Town of Vail Public Works Department will be required to inspect and approve drainage
adjacent to Town of Vail roads or streets and the installation of temporary or permanent culvefts at
access points from the road or street onto the construction site. Such approval must be obtained
prior to any requests for inspection by the Town of Vail Building Department for footings,
temporary electrical or any other inspection. Please call Leonard Sandoval at 479-2198 to request
an inspection from the Public Works Department. Allow a minimum of 24 hour notice.
)p. Also, the Town of Vail Public Works Depatment will be approving all final drainage and culvert
installation with resulting road patching as necessary. Such approval must be obtained prior to any
Final Certificate of Occupancy issuance.
