HomeMy WebLinkAboutWeekly Update 2008.09.05 CONSTRUCTION UPDATE September 5, 2008 OKTOBERFEST WORK HOURS Construction activity and deliveries in public rights-of-way will be restricted during the upcoming Oktoberfest weekends: Sept. 5-7 in LionsHead and Sept. 12-14 in Vail Village. Work is allowed to continue within private project sites, so long as it does not exceed Vail's noise ordinance. For more information, contact Leonard Sandoval at (970) 390-4677. For information on Oktoberfest activities, visit www.vailoktoberfest.com. WEST VAIL ROUNDABOUT PAVING Crews hired by the Town of Vail will begin re-paving the West Vail roundabouts next week. The work will necessitate a closure of the West Vail Interstate 70 on- and off-ramps from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 14 and again on Sept. 16. Motorists are asked to plan ahead and use the Main Vail roundabout to access businesses and residences in West Vail. CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS MEETING SCHEDULES Weekly Vail Village construction progress meetings have resumed at 9 a.m. Tuesdays in the Vail Transit Conference Room, located in the Vail Transportation Center. LionsHead construction progress meetings take place at 8:30 a.m. Wednesdays in the Arrabelle at Vail Square conference rooms. For specific project information, see contacts below. Contact Todd Oppenheimer at (970) 390-4678 or (970) 479-2161. West Meadow Drive Streetscape Removal of old asphalt is underway and utility relocation will begin next week. Traffic is reduced to one lane, west bound only between Vail Road and Vail Valley Medical Center. Pedestrian and bicycle access is being maintained. Contact Chad Salli at (970) 479-2169. Eaqle River Water& Sanitation District Work on Beaver Dam Road Paving is complete from Vail Road to Beaver Dam Circle, with clean-up and shoulder underway. Utility work continues in Beaver Dam Circle, to be followed by prep for paving. The entire project is targeting completion by the end of October. Pedestrians are asked to avoid Beaver Dam Road. The Willows Asphalt repairs and curb and gutter work is underway on Vail Road. On Sept. 6, Vail Road will be reduced to one lane to allow for excavation of the curb and gutter. Concrete is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 8th. During the concrete pour, Vail Road will again be reduced to one lane. Traffic control will be in place. The project is targeting a September TCO. Bell Tower Buildinq Installation of the tower crane will take place from 7 a.m. to noon Sept. 8, to facilitate the top floor remodel. The crane installation will necessitate a full road closure of Gore Creek Drive. Traffic control will be in place to assist with delivery trucks backing out of Gore Creek Drive. The path will be closed between the Treetops driveway and the Antlers. Detour will be via the LionsHead Mall. Core Site • Punch list items are underway. Ritz-Carlton Excavation around the ramp area is ongoing. Pre-cast work resumes on Monday. The second tower crane is scheduled to arrive Sept. 29.
