HomeMy WebLinkAboutWeekly Update 2008.09.18 CONSTRUCTION UPDATE September 19, 2008 DOWD JUNCTION REC PATH WORK UNDERWAY The Town of Vail, in conjunction with ECO Trails, is performing repairs on the recreation path where the Gore Valley Trail meets Highway 6 in Dowd Junction. Work includes pavement maintenance and drainage improvements and will take approximately three weeks to complete. The recreation path will remain open during the work. A minor detour is in place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, which includes a lane shift onto Highway 6 for approximately 150 yards. The lane is 10 feet wide and delineated by traffic cones. Path users and motorists are asked to use caution in the area. For more information, call 479-2337. Contact Todd Oppenheimer at (970) 390-4678 or (970) 479-2161. West Meadow Drive Streetscape Utility work is continuing. Crews will begin to pour back curb and gutter, weather permitting. Traffic is reduced to one lane, west bound only between Vail Road and Vail Valley Medical Center. Pedestrian access is being maintained; cyclists are asked to dismount through the area. Contact Chad Salli at (970) 479-2169. Eaqle River Water& Sanitation District Work on Beaver Dam Road Utility work continues in Beaver Dam Road. Solaris Pre-cast installation is anticipated to continue through the first week of October, with the crawler crane scheduled for removal immediately following. Steel work continues. Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) inspections are underway. Construction trailers are being removed from the site. Parking lot demolition is scheduled for Sept. 29. Mountain View Work on the boulder wall adjacent to the stream walk is anticipated to be complete this week. Final grading is underway on the west and north sides of the site. Announcements • West Forest Road is closed to through traffic to allow for the replacement of the Eagle Bahn Gondola cable. The closure mimics the winter seasonal closure. Private Project Updates The Arrabelle at Vail Square Primary Contact Matt Lydens, Vail Resorts Development Company (970) 331-7755; mlydens@vailresorts.com Streetscape • Asphalt is being replaced between Montauk and Patagonia. • Stone work on the planter in front of Performance Sports will start by the end of next week. • Asphalt will be removed in front of First Bank. • Additional drain work is scheduled for Oct. 1 on the west side of the Arrabelle. • Railing punch list work is continuing around the Arrabelle. 2 Core Site • Punch work is ongoing on all buildings and the plaza, which involves the use of lifts and caution tape. • Drains and pavers are being raised or lowered on the plaza to remove the puddles. • Plaza fountain final finishes are nearly complete. • Maypole art work is scheduled for the beginning of October. • Gondola building stone work is almost complete. • The temporary loading dock is being removed. The bike path is being restored to its original configuration and will reopen next spring. • Continuation of the snowmelted pavers in front of the new ticket office will be complete by ski season. Lion Square Lodqe North —Tower Residences Foundation work is anticipated to wrap up within the next few weeks. Steel work is scheduled to begin the first or second week of October. Large concrete pours are necessitating single-lane closures on West Lionshead Circle. Traffic control will be in place. Pre-cast work for the underground garage is scheduled to occur next week.
