Exercise all necessary precaution during the construction period to prevent entry or accumulation of moisture, dust, concrete, and all foreign matter into the raceway system. Glean and dry all raceways prior to pulling conductors. 8. Flash and counterflash all raceways which penetrate the roof. Insure that penetration is completely waterproof. All raceway systems exposed to the weather shall be waterproof. q. Provide and install one (1) spare 3/4" conduit for each four unused poles in all flush mounted panelboards; extend from panelboard to an accessible point beyond the area of finish wall or ceiling construction and cap. 10. Secure all raceway systems to building structure in a rigid and secure manner using approved type fasteners such as Gaddy Clips or similar type by other manufacturers. The use of wire, plumber's strap, etc., will not be permitted. Locations and spacing of fasteners shall be as required by the NEG. Do not secure raceways to ceiling suspension wires. 11. Rigid galvanized conduits in or under slab on grade shall be PVC, coated or protected with asphaltum. B. Fittings: I. Provide seal -off fittings where conduits enter or leave o hazardous wiring area or areas of widely different temperature and /or humidity. 3.6 WIRE AND GABLE INSTALLATION A. Provide a complete system of conductors for all raceway systems unless otherwise indicated. Conductors shall be of sizes and types indicated and required by NEG. For specific uses where quantities of conductors are not Specifically indicated for a raceway, provide number required to maintain control, function and number of circuits indicated. B. Color code all conductors on a uniform basis throughout the Project. G. Gonductor5 shall be continuous from outlet to outlet or junction boxes. Hold splices to a minimum. Where necessary, splice in readily accessible pull box, junction box, or outlet box. The insulation value of the joint shall equal that of the conductor. Make splices and connection in an approved manner. D. Make connections for conductors #8 AW6 and smaller with wire nuts. Make connections for conductors larger than #8 AW6 with correctly Sized 5olderle55 connectors or lugs. E. Install wiring in the raceway systems only after the conduit run has been completed and after such time as the conduits have been thoroughly cleaned and dried. 31 BOX INSTALLATION A. General: Install all outlets in a secure and substantial manner and locate to be compatible with space construction and equipment requirements, and with the work of other trades. Verify final outlet locations with Architect/Engineer prior to installation. Install all outlets plumb and in accessible locations. Install flush outlets with front of box or ring flush with the finished surrounding surface. Install all outlets flush unless used in conjunction with exposed conduit system or unless otherwise indicated. If outlets are not installed plumb, flush or approved locations, relocate or reset and refinish at no increase to the Contract Sum. Locate tile boxes in masonry to match brick or block coursing. All dimensions for mounting heights of outlets are given to center line of box unless otherwise noted. B. Lighting Outlets: Install flush wall or ceiling outlets to accommodate type of fixture to be installed. Provide 318" no -bolt stud in outlets as required. G. Switch Outlets: Install 48" above floor on latch side of door. Verify door swing prior to installation. Use gang boxes for multiple device installation as required. D. Receptacle Outlets: Install +18" above floor in all general locations; install at switch height where shown to be combination. Rough -in outlets for electric water coolers so as to be concealed behind unit, accessible, and in accordance with recommendations of equipment suppliers. Other mounting heights to be as indicated on the Drawings. E. Back -to -Back: Outlets Shown on Drawings "back -to- back" are to be installed with a minimum of 12" lateral separation between outlets and shall be offset one stud space for minimum sound transmissions. Through- the -wall type boxes are not permitted. F. Above Counter: Install 6" to center line above top of counter or back5pla5h (whichever is higher) a5 Shown on the Drawings. Orient plaster rings to allow receptacles to be installed horizontally. 3.8 015GONNEGT INSTALLATION A. General: Install where shown on Drawings and required by NEG. Install within sight of motor. Do not install thermal overload switches on roof or where exposed to sun. B. Disconnect Switches - Fused: Provide for all motors other than 120 volt which are not protected by time delay fuses or circuit breakers installed in a panelboard or switchboard.
